The work of an entire afternoon was extended

Many people are already excited that the winter holidays are about to begin, and more than a few have even started decorating as soon as Halloween was over. Since November 1, reindeer, lights, elves, and pine trees have taken over thousands of homes. Some people get so excited that they even want to decorate twice. Well, at least that’s what happened to this homeowner in Arizona, who, just after finishing putting up his Christmas lights, saw them all fall down. It seems that this person spent hours working and had to redo everything because they didn’t secure the lights properly.

The Christmas lights said, “let’s do it again!”

Redditor borderbox shared in r/mildlyinfuriating an unfortunate and painful video. Painful in the sense that a homeowner in Arizona had just finished installing their Christmas lights when they fell down. It wasn’t just that the lights fell from the roof to the ground in one quick move; it happened just as the homeowner was about to close and take their ladder, proudly looking at all their work.

To make matters worse, the lights slowly slid around the house in a very unexpected way, like going around the entire house. But for the homeowner, it was too late to stop the chaos. The footage is making the rounds online right now, and commenters aired their thoughts.

“The way the lights fall off progressively, like in a cartoon, makes it even more painful 😂” said thosjesus.

“It’s never this easy when you want to take them down,” added TrickdaddyJ.

Commenters were stunned by how effortlessly the lights slid off the roof, noting they seemed to be barely attached. Others blamed the homeowner for not securing the lights enough, or even for not considering that it could be bad weather, which can mess with the decor installation. Thankfully, a user in the comment section explained the mystery behind these easy-to-uninstall lights.

“These look like the new LED strings that have self-adhesive pads on each light. I’ve been curious how well the adhesive holds,” commented GenerationYKnot.

Many people in the comments agreed that Velcro or self-adhesive strips may not be ideal for securing even lights. Therefore, the best options are still nails and zip ties to prevent our holiday decorations from falling in a light breeze. In addition, it should be noted that in some areas there may be strong winds and storms. This is especially dangerous if you’re trying to put a 5-foot-tall reindeer on your roof, so watch out!
