Delusional California Mom Doesn’t Expect Backlash After Choosing Botox Over Her Son’s Christmas Concert, ‘Appearance means nothing, but being there for your kid means everything’

Just be there

Imagine being so concerned about how you look that you let it affect the time you spend making memories with your child. This bougie attitude, which sometimes teeters on outright selfishness, should never get in the way of your parenting. But for one California mom, it was better to stay home than venture to her child’s concert looking bedraggled. Because kids really care more about how you look than the time you spend with them, right?

TikToker Realangelicavibes thought she ate when she shared that she skipped her son’s annual Christmas concert. She said she picked her son up from school, and he mentioned their concert at the last minute, saying it was that night. Angelica told her son, “I haven’t seen anything about it, I haven’t heard anything about it.” She then told her son, “We can’t go to a Christmas concert.”

@realangelicavibes

Be honest, what would you do? I’m not counting this one as my fault and we also had many other things to do so it wasn’t just the Botox or giving “grieving widow” vibes that confirmed we couldn’t go BUT I will be emailing his teacher to confirm the next upcoming events 😒 #kidsbelike #momfail #botoxday #momlifebelike #seriously

Angelica claims she can’t attend the Christmas concert that she knew nothing about until that day. Furthermore, she argued that she didn’t have anything ready and “can’t wear makeup” because she got Botox that day.

Angelica tells her audience, “If I go looking like this to the Christmas performance, people are gonna be like, oh, she’s going through it. We’re not going.”

Do I think this makes Angelica a bad parent by any means? No. It’s a missed opportunity to attend what may be a memorable event. Your kids just want a parent who shows up, who supports them in their endeavors. You could be in sweatpants and a t-shirt, and your kids wouldn’t care.

As one commenter pointed out, “If you go looking like that, your son will see you showed up for him. If you go looking like that, I can promise you not one person will even notice the way you look because nobody is there for you; they are there for their kids. Appearance means nothing, but being there for your kid means everything. If you don’t go, and parents hear you didn’t go because of the way you look, I can also promise you they will be judging you so much more for not being there than they would if you showed up without makeup.”

In a follow-up video, Angelica defends herself against cruel comments. She points out that her son lost his father, and she attends every event except going to this one concert.

One commenter shares she understands Angelica is “going through it because you lost your spouse,” but, as the commenter mentions, “As an adult who lost her dad at a young age here is my advice: Suck it up and show up for your kid. You are all he has left and he needs you to be his rock right now.” Sometimes, all a parent needs to hear is that they need to keep going for their children, no matter how difficult it gets.
