Thanksgiving is upon us, and for many busy adults, the rush for turkey is a make-or-break struggle to fulfill the occasion. It just so happens that one influencer/ businesswoman/ chef from Atlanta, Georgia, knows just how important the turkey is as the cornerstone of Thanksgiving, which is why she’s now selling her own cooked turkey for $750 apiece.
Premadonna, aka Nakeitha Chemera Felder Thomas, is the businesswoman in question, and this week, she launched her own occasion-specific product line called the Premadonna Cajun Turkey, which she washed, seasoned, marinated, and cooked herself. The price, however, became the point of contention for many consumers and critics because $750 is equivalent to several whole turkeys.
Immediately, people were appalled and shocked at the pricing, even though Premadonna swears it’s “The juiciest seasoned turkey you’ll ever tasteeeee🙏🏾😎you can make 4payments if needed local ATL pickup available if needed💓,” according to her. That didn’t stop critics from pointing out just how ridiculous the price is, along with the preparation method; based on her promotion video, Premadonna did some of the marinating in the same kitchen sink where she cleaned the turkey:
It’s not clear whether she did this kind of marination process for every single turkey she sold, or if they were marinated elsewhere, apart from the kitchen sink. For the record, marinating turkeys in the kitchen sink is not good, as it can cross-contaminate the meat, and sinks are well-known to hold bacteria. There’s a chance that the oven heat will kill all the contaminants anyway, but people who cook were still shocked at the method. More than anything, however, they are criticizing the price.
People Online Thought the Price Was a Mistake
Some of the more immediate comments on Premadonna’s Instagram page were mocking anyone who bought her Cajun Turkey, despite being ready-to-eat, the price was too high. “There’s not enough value in that for 750 lol that’s a 6 dollar stick of butter and a 100 dollar bird with seasoning’s lol … she marked that bird up 6x lol 😂 I don’t care how good it tastes lol 😂 she played yall” rants a commenter.
Skeptics have questioned the pricing scheme for the turkey, asking for a breakdown, “Sides not included? Tariff pricing? 😂😂😂 im here for all her hustles, but this is it here,” queries Premadonna hasn’t addressed. Premadonna hasn’t revealed exact figures yet as to how many customers bought her Cajun Turkey, but one proud patron even claimed to have bought three, “I’m glad I got my 3 ordered! Can’t wait to pick up!!!!!”
Others, however, have defended Premadonna’s business sense and Cajun Turkey, saying the turkey is one-of-a-kind, “If y’all don’t go get a turkey and season it just like she showed yall and hush! 😂😂😂😂.” Certain commenters have also understood that anyone complaining is definitely not the target audience, “This aint for us 9-5 hard workers yall 😂.”
