The debate over whether women should propose to their boyfriends has been ongoing for years. Some women who have proposed to their boyfriends were met with negative reactions. A recent example of this is that of a woman in California who did just that. She shared a video saying that it was the night before she proposed to her boyfriend. This was upsetting to many people, but there was one detail that made them more upset. That would be the fact that they have been together for 14 years. Of course, this is a lot of time which made people argue that her boyfriend had YEARS to propose to her and still didn’t. Despite the criticism she knew she was going to receive, the future bride simply said, “I don’t care.”
What made the California woman’s situation worse is that she even decided to ask her boyfriend’s father for his blessing. Since men are usually the ones to do this, this detail angered people even more. She went all out too. In another video, she showed the ring she bought for her boyfriend. At least it looked nice. Apparently, the proposal had already taken place, and he said yes. She shared some pictures on her story, but so far, she hasn’t posted a video of the actual proposal. The bride-to-be plans to post the video, but she announced that she would turn the comments off under it. Probably a wise decision.
People Reacting to the California Woman’s Plan
It’s safe to say that thousands of people dragged the California woman. The majority of those who dragged her were other women, which is to be expected. Many women wanted to change her mind in any possible way. This is why one woman asked her, “What can I personally do to save you?” Another woman even said, “I will drive to her to stop this ridiculousness. She will never regain her dignity if she does this. Seriously.” Others, meanwhile, then decided to share pictures of her boyfriend and mock his appearance as a way to claim that she shouldn’t be doing all of this for him.
Many women also didn’t want to believe that the California bride-to-be was telling the truth. “I’m gonna tell myself this is just for views,” one woman wrote. Another woman then asked, “Is this a skit?” Someone even joked that this must be AI. Thankfully, there was one comment that was actually nice. “Is 14 years a long time to wait? Yes. Am I happy for you? Yes. I hope he says yes and remember that you’re just dealing with single women on social media. You do as you please irl. Good luck to you,” was the comment. I mean, if both of them are happy, then nothing is wrong with it. They aren’t harming anyone.
