An endearing moment unfolded in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a group of school kids showed their support in a cute and unexpected way toward anti-ICE protesters. In a video posted on TikTok, protesters holding different placards stood gathered near the roadside when a school bus stopped right in front of them. A voice behind the camera could be heard saying, “Oh my God, every day this week, the kids have been cheering us on, and they open the school bus window, but this is the first day we’ve seen a flag.”

The person was referring to the kids who waved a flag outside the bus window for a moment before the bus drove off, leaving warm smiles on the faces of the protesters. One kid held out a Palestine flag while another showed a placard. The comments section was just as lively as the moment itself, with many people acknowledging the children’s gesture. “Even the babies know,” someone wrote, implying that even the little ones recognize the pain ICE is causing. A user added, “Charlotte has really shown the country something. I hope we remember it.”

Thanking the protesters, another person wrote, “Thank you for giving these kids this memory during such a terrible time.” This user commented emotionally, “This makes these ugly moments worth it 🥹 We’ll come out stronger than ever once this is all over ✨.” Another comment read, “I’m crying.. at the end of the day no kids deserve this🥹.” Someone else applauded, “That bus carries the future of this country, and they are not just cheering you all but they are watching what’s going 🙏❤️.” Another user added, “Our iPad babies are representing for the ones who can’t 🥹.” Someone noted, “They see that their community cares about ALL their friends. You’re the cool grownups🥲🥺.”

Comparing the kids to public officials, another wrote, “I’m so moved. These kids have more guts than politicians.” This sight isn’t new, as young children in the area have increasingly shown their awareness and concern over ICE activity.

According to The Nerd Stash, this is not the first time students have voiced support. At Olympic High School in Charlotte, students organized a walkout to protest what they described as an aggressive ICE presence in their community. The demonstration was significant not only for its size but also because it took place despite warnings from school administrators. The principal and staff urged students to remain in class, but many felt strongly enough to go ahead with their planned demonstration.

They also held a solidarity walk on campus. For the students, the walkout was a chance to stand together and express their belief that young people have a right to speak out about issues shaping their city and their lives.
