An attorney and TikTok content creator living in Los Angeles says she recently learned that nearly $25,000 worth of her valuables had been stolen from inside her home, and not by a stranger but by her housekeeper’s partner. The housekeeper had worked for her for two years and had only begun bringing her partner along during recent cleaning visits, a decision the homeowner now believes opened the door to the theft.
It Went On for Months
According to the woman, she had always treated her housekeeper with genuine kindness, offering gifts, raises, and trust, and never once suspected her of wrongdoing. When her belongings first began to disappear months earlier, she assumed it was her own mistake. She was pregnant at the time and later recovering from childbirth, so she chalked up the missing items to exhaustion or what she described as “pregnancy brain.”
The situation only became clear when the woman traveled to New York and asked a close friend to house sit in Los Angeles. One day, the friend noticed that the nightstand drawer in the homeowner’s bedroom had been left open in a “weird and suspicious” way shortly after the cleaning staff had finished, so she quickly called to report it.
The woman was alarmed by this and she asked her friend to FaceTime her so she could check the drawer herself. The moment the camera tilted inside, she realized multiple valuables were gone. Cash, jewelry, and other personal items she kept there had vanished. Among them were two of the most sentimental pieces she owned: her grandmother’s ring and necklace, heirlooms passed down through her family and meant one day for her own daughter.
She Tried to Get Them Back
The Los Angeles woman later confronted her housekeeper, who quickly admitted that it was her partner who had taken the belongings. Hoping to salvage what mattered most, the homeowner pleaded to have the heirlooms returned, explaining that they were irreplaceable and held deep emotional significance. But she was told the items had already been sold, allegedly to fund drug use.
Left heartbroken, she now finds herself torn about whether to press charges. She explained in her TikTok video that legal action would not bring back the stolen heirlooms and would require her to navigate a lengthy process. However, she also fears that doing nothing could allow the partner to continue stealing from others.
