Twitch streamers are known for pushing boundaries in the name of content, and sometimes that pursuit of attention can drift into dangerous territory. One such moment recently involved streamer MeltIsLIVE. The 24-year-old creator, whose real name is Jalen Melton, was involved in an early-morning car crash on an Atlanta highway in Georgia, an incident that was partially captured during a livestream.
Yes, the moment was apparently recorded in real time. Footage circulating online appears to show the Atlanta streamer driving at a high speed in the dark, with a camera pointed toward the road. The street was barely visible, but the movement of the vehicle could clearly be seen. Suddenly, another car appeared to the right of the frame. Within seconds, the two vehicles collided, and the screen went chaotic. There was a brief scream, followed by the camera cutting to darkness.
Another streamer, HyyJoe, was driving behind MeltIsLIVE at the time and came up on the crash scene shortly afterward. In videos that later surfaced on social media, a damaged vehicle could be seen with a large dent in its rear side. HyyJoe appeared visibly shocked by what he saw but later reassured viewers that everyone involved seemed to be okay.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, three vehicles were involved in the crash. Fortunately, officials stated that no critical injuries were reported. While more details are still pending, authorities have confirmed that a full incident report has yet to be finalized.
Even though there were no life-threatening injuries, the online reaction was swift and unforgiving. Users across multiple platforms began criticizing MeltIsLIVE for allegedly driving while streaming, calling it reckless and irresponsible. One particularly heated comment read, “This idiot is merging across three lanes and is halfway into the fourth the other driver was in and hits the other guy and then blames him. Seriously? He’s had three crashes just this year and this is his second one on stream. He needs to lose his license immediately.”
What raised even more eyebrows was the fact that Melt’s Twitch channel was soon found to be deactivated, showing a message that it was unavailable due to a violation of the platform’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. Although there has been no official confirmation linking the ban directly to the crash, many users assumed the decision was related to livestreaming while driving.
This was also not the first time the Atlanta streamer had been involved in an accident. Back in April 2024, he reportedly experienced a similar incident, which some viewers claimed happened because he was distracted while interacting with followers instead of focusing on the road. That history added fuel to the debate over whether Twitch should ban streaming while driving altogether.
Another user commented, “Knowing that I share the road with people like this is terrifying. One wrong move and we could all be gone. Streaming while driving should be an instant ban. Period.”
