You don’t expect to have to confront someone at the grocery store when you’re simply minding your own business and trying to shop in peace. However, that’s exactly what happened to one Alabama woman, who went into her local Walmart to pick up some items and ended up leaving with a chip on her shoulder due to a “disgusting” interaction with a man who decided to objectify her.
The video, posted by user @obvio_anais, starts off with the Alabama shopper speeding through Walmart while looking for a man who made a crude comment toward her. Over the video, she posted a message that read, “ATTENTION!!! Don’t run away from them. Make them run away from you.”
In the caption of the TikTok clip, the woman says she was approached by a man who made comments about her body and made her feel very uncomfortable. So, she did what she felt was right: she confronted him and filmed him, forcing him to deal with the consequences of his actions.
Alabama Woman Says Enough Is Enough
“This man is disgusting! I went to Walmart today, as I was walking on one of the aisles I saw this man out of the corner of my eye walking towards me and he made a “Oooh Mmmmm”🤤🤤😜sound, 🤮 yuck!! I rolled my eyes and just kept walking. I then went to the kitchen aisle and as I was squatting down looking at some table placemats, he passes by once again and he literally looked at me and said “YOU HAVE A NICE [expletive]” as he smiled with his disgusting perverted face, with no shame at all!” she explained in the caption of the post.
She also encouraged other women to stick up for themselves in similar situations. The Alabama shopper took matters into her own hands, tracked down the man, and then asked him to repeat himself. He refused to do so, and when she asked him why he made a comment about her, he claimed that he had been talking on the phone and not directing the statement toward her.
“You’re a [expletive] perv. Don’t you ever [expletive] say that again, do you understand?” she says to him.
TikTok loved her confidence and the way she didn’t let his comments slide. “GOOD JOB!!! Speak up even if your voice shakes!! So proud of you,” one person wrote. “He was so embarrassed that’s why he made that excuse and turned away,” a second person chimed in. “Yes ma’am. He wants to make you uncomfy we both get to be uncomfy!!” a third comment read.
This Alabama woman is an inspiration to others who may deal with the same kind of comments being hurled at them. Perhaps if these types of people called out more, they’ll stop their disturbing behavior.
