With all the chaos left by ICE, there have been a lot of people who support what they are doing. Many of them just watch, but some decide to help ICE in its mission. Now, a disgusting Idaho bar decided to do just that and people don’t like it. In a tweet, Old State Saloon announced that they would give a month of free beer for anyone who “helps ICE identify and ultimately deport an illegal.” They even decided to offer a free beer for any immigrant who deport themselves. This gesture wasn’t welcomed by many people, and the bar quickly faced backlash.
Instead of backing down following all the criticism, the bar didn’t cancel their offer. They started sharing how they were receiving threats from individuals saying that they would burn down their establishment. The owner also made a claim that they were targeted because of their offer. According to him, the Idaho State Tax Commission called them and said that the bar was selected for a routine sales and use tax audit. He believes that this wasn’t a coincidence, even though this might happen to any business. In addition to his offer, he started describing Christmas as “Merry Snitchmas.” With all the backlash they are facing, this offer might not end in the way they hoped it would.
People Reacting to the Idaho Bar’s Disgusting Offer
A lot of people were appalled by what the Idaho bar was offering. Many found it as something only a heartless person would do and their feelings are definitely valid. This is why one person wrote, “That is so heartbreaking.” Another person then said, “That’s totally disgusting. Unfortunately, Trump has made things like this to be perfectly fine.” Someone from the state even claimed that the bar isn’t admired by the locals. “This bar is local to me and they are widely disliked and often laughed at. But this is low even for them,” they wrote. Others decided to report them whenever possible, such as one comment that said, “Send an email to alcohol beverage control I did.”
Unsurprisingly, the Idaho bar received a lot of support on X. Some of the people there started suggesting ways to make this offer better. “Can you create a leaderboard and at the end of the year have a ‘Deporter of the Year’ award who gets free beer for life (or a year or whatever),” one person suggested as if it were a competition. Another person then said, “Finally! Someone put a bounty on em! Awesome!” Inhumane. A lot of tweets also called them patriots for what they were doing. There were also several people who planned to do just as the offer says. This is definitely a controversial business move.
