Imagine running your entire political platform on hatred toward the American people. But if Trump was successful in doing just that, why can’t others? Well, that’s how one woman running for Congress in Texas, Valentina Gomez, is trying to reach racist conservative Americans. In one disturbing video Gomez released, she made Muslim’s the focus of her hatred, calling them “dirty,” among other inflammatory comments. Being Hispanic herself, her negative attitude towards immigrants was jarring.
TikToker Rowan, a political commentator, posted a video sharing Valentina Gomez’s political ad. The anti-immigration and anti-Muslim comments happened immediately after the video starts. Hearing it is like whiplash. According to Gomez, “Vote for me so we can kick every dirty Muslim out Texas,” and so Texans can save their daughters from “getting raped by Muhammad and protect our soldiers from getting murdered in broad daylight.”
It’s so blatantly bigoted, it sounds like a bit. Interestingly enough, Gomez didn’t actually move to the U.S. from Colombia herself until 2009. Now, she wants to appeal to MAGA voters in the most hateful way possible. Thus far, she’s made inflammatory statements toward Muslims, members of the LGBTQ+ community, Black people, and even immigrants much like herself. What’s the saying about leopards eating faces again?
Perhaps Gomez needs to change her messaging, but she isn’t getting any strong wins. As Rowan hilariously points out in his video, “She’s actually ran for Republican public office before, but she came in sixth place, because she obviously sucks at politics.”
Rowan goes on to add that her career is just “grifting to the right online, acting insane, and then just trying to raise a bunch of donations from crazy Trump cultists.” And looking at the right-wing content pipeline, that lines up.
One commenter stated, “We Latinos don’t claim her.” It’s clear some people’s morals are far to flexible when it comes to a large enough paycheck or following.
Another person asked, “Why is hate speech not illegal and ESPECIALLY how is it lawful for people who hold prejudices against a group of ppl to run for politics?”
Unfortunately, some loopholes can and do exist. Only just recently Pennsylvania introduced the CROWN Act, closing the opportunity for businesses and schools to discriminate based on hairstyle. It can go beyond just speech!
