Turns out the Federal Bureau of Investigation, or FBI, knocking around door-to-door to nip potential dissenters in the bud might now be a thing. At least that’s the case according to one TikToker from Olympia, Washington, whose house was visited by what she assumed was an FBI agent because she apparently criticized ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
This testimony came from TikTok user Mossy Matriarch. Early in December, the TikToker alleged that two agents knocked on her door and asked whether she might be inciting violence or not. It appears the agents didn’t introduce themselves properly, and the TikToker was nervous, so she immediately answered their questions after assuming they were federal entities. Luckily, the “conversation” with the agent was smooth, and they left immediately after the TikTok user denied the accusations against her:
In the video, you can see Mossy Matriarch recording the alleged agent. The agent explained, “I’m here because some folks in the public have expressed concerns that some posts might be inciting violence… are you trying to do that?” Of course, Mossy Matriarch also explained that her posts also included notes such as “Let’s be as peaceful as we can.”
The agent further questioned the TikToker if she knew anyone with the intent to cause damage to federal buildings, which she apparently didn’t. For the record, some of Mossy Matriarch’s past TikTok videos have her voicing criticisms of ICE and the Trump administration, especially during their Portland activities. Regardless, after the alleged FBI agent’s visit, the TikToker is somewhat worried, “I am definitely 100% on a list now,” she says.
People online are questioning the authenticity of the “FBI agents”
Thankfully, it appears the TikTok user’s viewers pointed out how she didn’t ask for identification, and how the two agents who visited her didn’t seem like they worked for the FBI, despite knowing her real name. Hence, Mossy Matriarch has called the FBI asking for verification, though they weren’t of much help. The police, however, have taken matters seriously and are investigating the two men who visited her.
Looking back, it appears Mossy Matriarch thinks she might have judged the men quickly, and she further clarified in the comments that, “I think it might be a far right hate group, they’ve posted pictures of my house before and I’ve gotten a lot of death threats and I was on that Charlie Kirk memorial doxxing site.” Because of this potential angle, the TikTok user now fears for her safety, hence why she got the police involved.
So far, Mossy Matriarch is safe and sound, though she remains cautious and told her viewers that if she stopped posting for two days, then it could be a sign of trouble. It’s not clear whether the two men who visited her were really FBI agents or just a couple of right-wing group members, but the context behind their visit is alarming nonetheless. It’s worth noting that the FBI has indeed visited anti-ICE protesters before, so it’s not exactly a far-fetched notion.
