Locked Out: Louisiana Manager Taunts ICE Officials at Business Entrance, ‘May this man never face struggles and his business flourish’

There’s been an influx of businesses standing against immigration agents whenever they show up in major cities. One strategy is protecting their work spaces, and creating ICE-free zones. As an example, a store manager in Kenner, Louisiana took action when ICE agents tried to come into his business. After seeing a frightened customer unsure of where to go next, Wayne Davis had a solution. And, what he did was truly hilarious and brave at the same time.

According to local news in the area, 4WWL, Wayne Davis, a store manager of Brother’s Food Mart was alarmed when two unmarked SUVs pulled up to the business. But what really caused him to jump into action was when a customer came up to him and asked, “That’s ICE?” and began panicking when Wayne confirmed. So, with a flick of his wrist, the door to the store was locked by Wayne.

In the video, Wayne can be seen recording and taunting the agents through the window of the business. He asks them, “You want some chicken? You ain’t getting it here, bro.” One of the agents, as Wayne recalls, appeared to be Gregory Bovino, who is a senior officer of Border Patrol. That’s bonus points!

In Louisiana, a state law was apparently introduced to make it a crime to “interfere with federal immigration enforcement.” However, according to immigration lawyer Michael Gahagan, that wouldn’t apply to this case. Businesses are typically allowed to keep people out based on their own objections.

The agents would have had to ask a federal judge for a very specific type of warrant if they wanted to gain entrance. Were agents there that day for food, or to create trouble with the customers? No matter the legalities involved, it’s clear Wayne did the right thing by protecting the customers inside.

Wayne Davis himself said in an interview he’s researching what he can and can’t do for the future. That’s smart! He wants to be properly informed of his rights (as should all Americans). He goes on to say, “I’m not gonna let them do what they think they can do because they can’t. There’s laws that everyone has to obey by.”

“And he’s even wearing a Goku hoodie! May this man never face struggles and his business flourish,” another pointed out.

“So what you’re saying is every business should be denying services and entry. So we can protect ourselves from being kidnapped,” another suggested. As Wayne says, “I’m not afraid of them.”
