There are plenty of ways to peacefully protest someone’s beliefs, especially if those beliefs impede on others. One neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois was more than willing to help shovel the sidewalks outside people’s homes. And what a good neighborly thing to do! Keeps kids from getting into trouble, too. However, one home seems to have been clearly ignored, given the thick patch of snow and ice outside. When a neighbor passed on by, he could see why.
TikToker Brendanlockerbyy—Brendan—shared a video of him on a peaceful walk in Chicago. The snow piled up fairly well in the yards of his neighbors, but the sidewalks were very well maintained and snow-free. Except one house still had a big patch of ice and snow still blanketed outside. What he noticed is that it was flying a Trump flag, and all the pieces fit together.
According to Brendan, the neighborhood banded together to shovel sidewalks outside, but left the lonely MAGA home to fend for itself. Brendan doesn’t seem all that beat up about it, either. In the caption of his video it reads: “It’s a hard life for MAGA in Chicago,” but no one in the comments had any tears for them.
“So thoughtful of you to respect their culture and beliefs,” one commenter joked, followed by hearts. Well, given how much Republicans voted for even worse conditions for everyone, it does seem on par. As one other commenter put it, “They don’t believe in free handouts.”
Another admitted their own passive-aggressiveness when they noted a woman pulled over at the turnpike. The nearest gas station wasn’t “for miles,” but when she saw the Trump tire cover, she “just kept going.”
The real kicker is the fact the sidewalk was kept in its icy condition to begin with. Did the homeowner’s even consider others walking by? According to Chicago’s own municipal code, the owner of the MAGA house should be. In fact, one person even recommended calling “311 to report that their portion of the sidewalk isn’t cleared.”
On the outside, it seems petty and mean, but is this not the environment MAGA voters wanted? They boo at refugees getting healthcare, boo at struggling Americans having food stamps (especially if they’re a minority), and boo at people wanting better pay. Okay, then: Boo, you! You can shovel your own sidewalk!
