Killing zombies and slaying them in one swing of a blade or drying a full LMG magazine on them is a thing we see a lot in video games, but how about being the zombie yourself? Kind of. Announced at The Game Awards 2025, Stupid Never Dies is the game that allows just that as you control the undead Davy, and since you’re, well, dead, the power of raising the undead to slay the rest of the monsters is a thing!
Developed by studio GPTRACK50 led by former Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Stupid Never Dies is an action RPG coming to PS5 and PC. The trailer revealed at The Game Awards starts with some sort of music video-style intro where we see the main character, Davy, and the human girl he has to save, Julia. But it won’t take long until we get to the real deal, that is, the gameplay.
Stupid Never Dies’ action feels a lot like DMC with all the zombie slashes and crowd attacks that cut the undead to 3 perfectly sized pieces. However, as mentioned, being a part of the undead territory allows the main character, Davy, to steal the enemy attacks, summon the friendly undead, upgrade his body with different gadgets, and probably not die, right?
Speaking of Devil May Cry, Hiroyuki Kobayashi has put his time into the development of that series, Resident Evil, and, of course, Dragon’s Dogma. The zombified world of Stupid Never Dies isn’t filled with horror, however, as Julia, the human girl we see in the trailer, is the one to be saved in the story. Not much detail is given regarding the narrative, and we can expect to experience this title in 2026.
