A woman in Detroit, Michigan, is accusing staff at Henry Ford Hospital on West Grand Boulevard of treating her “like garbage” during a recent hospital visit, claiming they were rude to her and moved to discharge her even though she said she was sick. According to her TikTok posts, she said she went to the hospital to seek medical attention because she believed she may have caught COVID after experiencing extreme cold, chills, a racing heart, a pounding headache, body aches, and a sore throat.
After hospital staff ran tests and allegedly informed her that she had a viral infection and a fever, they offered her medication to take. However, the woman declined, explaining to staff that she does not take pills and was instead asking for rest because the homeless shelter she is currently staying at did not have access to a bed.
The Hospital Moved to Discharge Her
The woman claimed that after she refused to take the medication, two nurses entered her room and began acting rudely toward her. She said they informed her that she was being discharged and left the discharge papers for her to sign.
It is not clear whether she resisted or refused to leave, but hospital security was called to her room. In the video she uploaded, multiple officers can be seen standing near her hospital bed as she questioned why they were there and accused them of ganging up on her. “They just told me, like, one minute ago,” she said, questioning why security had been brought in so quickly. She told the officers that she felt scared and harassed by their presence.
The officers, who looked very frustrated, attempted to explain that she had been discharged and needed to prepare to leave. Even as she continued to complain about how she was being treated by hospital staff, the officers encouraged her not to make the situation harder and instructed her to get dressed so she could leave, before closing the curtain to give her privacy.

The woman continued documenting her experience after the officers left. She claimed that she asked for a complaint form but was not given one and alleged that after making the request, staff outside her room left the door open and laughed together. She described the moment as deeply hurtful, saying she felt mocked and shamed, particularly because she had mentioned being homeless.
“I just keep saying, like, I am sick,” she said in the video, adding, “and they’re like, okay, well, there’s other sick people.” She acknowledged that she understood the hospital was not a shelter but said she was shocked by what she perceived as a lack of compassion and basic empathy from the staff.
