Support for Charlie Kirk has long been a flashpoint, with his backers often drawing sharp criticism. That tension surfaced again at a California Target, where an elderly employee became the focus of an unexpected confrontation. Wearing a shirt bearing Kirk’s name, she caught the attention of a woman later described online as a “liberal Karen,” who clearly took issue with it.
Notably, the employee didn’t instigate the situation or even approach her. Instead, the woman confronted the employee directly, pulling out her phone and filming her without consent. As she repeatedly questioned the shirt, the Target worker remained calm, explaining that she was simply wearing a red shirt and was well within her rights to do so.
“It’s a Charlie Kirk shirt,” the Karen said. This made the California employee reply patiently, “Oh yes I know.” Then, the Karen escalated the situation as she started insulting the elderly woman. “Are you [expletive] stupid?” Why the [expletive] would you wear that? You’re at work at Target.” The insults just made people side with the elderly woman even more. Many applauded how she stayed calm and simply said “no” when she was insulted. The liberal Karen kept going. “You support a racist,” she told the woman, who then responded that Kirk wasn’t a racist. “I’m sorry but I’m not gonna sit here and argue with you,” the woman said calmly.
The Karen then demanded to speak to a manager, insisting the employee shouldn’t be allowed to wear that at work. “Unacceptable. Un[expletive]acceptable,” she said. The employee calmly replied, “That’s your opinion.”
Rather than leaving her alone, the Karen doubled down, repeatedly claiming Kirk was a racist and accusing the woman of supporting him anyway. “This is going to be taken above your [expletive] head. That’s insane,” she said, even after being reminded—again—that it was a matter of opinion.
Despite being mistreated, the employee continued to address her as “ma’am” and attempted to disengage. “Have a nice day,” the elderly woman said as she walked away. The Karen continued filming regardless, finishing the exchange by calling her a “piece of [expletive].”
The liberal California Karen might have thought that people would agree with her when she posted this video, but the complete opposite happened. She was attacked by both conservatives and liberals. The former went a step further as they found her workplace and are currently trying to get her fired. The Karen then ended up deleting the video and making her account private but it was too late. To support the elderly employee, conservatives started a fundraiser for her to go on a vacation. They have currently raised over $60,000 for the employee who is named Jeanie. The amount raised keeps increasing, and it would probably reach and even pass the $100,000 goal.
People Reacting to the California Target Employee Being Harrased
The majority of people were disturbed by what the California Karen did. So of course, they sympathized with Jeanie. Since even liberals were attacking her, one person wrote, “She was outright nasty to the employee, that’s not how we need to be treating each other regardless of opinion. She took an opportunity to change minds and behaved with hostility and nastiness. [Expletive] like this is what keeps magas in the magaverse.” When another person said that the Karen should have just called the manager, someone replied, “Or just let the elderly min wage lady be an elderly min wage lady, and go live your own [expletive] life.” One person also said, “Honestly, I passionate hate Kirk and everyone associated with him, but the woman taking the video sounds way too Karen. Like she kind of comes off like a [expletive].”
More liberals came after the California Karen rather than supporting her. They agreed that Kirk was a horrible person, but believed that this was not the right way to confront someone. “I am super left and I wouldn’t confront an old lady that really shouldn’t even be working for wearing a shirt at work. Go to the manager directly or leave a survey. You don’t need to harass an old lady who probably shouldn’t even be working. She’s going to go home upset because a woman on the left literally harassed and filmed her at work. This isn’t how you bring people over from the right; she’s just confirming her beliefs. This is a fantastic example of what not to do,” one person wrote. They have got a point.
