A woman in Chicago, Illinois, has set the internet on fire through a heated debate about a trivial, albeit transcendent topic. Apparently, everyone has been wearing their fur coats wrong, and they have all just found out.
The sudden fur coat revelation was shared online by Jessica Alzamora, a Chicago-based lifestyle content creator. Casually, she decided to record herself while behind the wheel to cause everyone online to have an epiphany of sorts by saying that fur coats should be worn in an entirely different but simple manner.
While showing her parka, the woman explained that everyone was wearing their coats wrong. “This [the coat hood] is not meant to be stylish, it’s meant to be functional,” she said. She then folded the fur lining in her hood, reportedly covering her ears, preventing air from entering. After she zipped her coat, she apparently managed to create a perfect vacuum.
“You stay so, so, so much warmer,” Jessica continued. “If you leave it like this,” the woman explained while unfolding her hood, “all the air is still hitting you, and you’re not warmer.”
Apparently, Jessica learned to fold her coat hood through her pediatrician years ago. She, however, wasn’t ready for her fur coat theory to be tested by the internet.
Fur Coat Debate, Reactions
Quickly, her video, posted to TikTok and Instagram, gained enough traction for it to become the latest viral debate online. With millions of views and likes, many people saw in the Illinois woman’s revolutionary coat-wearing technique pure brilliance.
“I’ve been an idiot for 38 years,” one user commented. Another one wrote, “You know what……. Why didn’t nobody tell us this?” A third one commented, “Even if she made this up, it’s genius.”
However, the vast majority of comments focused on disproving the Illinois woman. Some explained that the fur lining should be worn outwards to protect one’s face from the cold wind and the snow. Others just chose to trust the Inuits and how they wore their parkas for half a century.
“I’ve never seen someone be so confidently wrong,” one user commented. Another one said, “I feel like you just made that up.” A third one added, jokingly, “Then how are people gonna know that I’m wearing a fur coat?“
Jessica reacted to the thousands of comments she received, many of them mean-spirited. That said, she did receive substantial support. Perhaps she will take this as a valuable lesson: giving your opinion on the internet is asking for backlash.
