A lovely couple in New York decided to surprise their 97-year-old neighbor with a giant gnome. The woman was ecstatic, and the internet immediately fell in love with her and her reaction.
The gnome gifting was posted on TikTok by user shellyd9 (Shelly). In the clip’s caption, Shelly explained that her elderly neighbor absolutely loves gnomes. Her love for the mythical creature turned decoration has translated to a collection of the little fellows in her house. And, as a sweet gesture for her, the New York couple decided to gift her a big one.
Shelly’s husband is shown carrying the massive gnome to their elderly neighbor’s residence. After getting the snow off their boots, the married couple entered the woman’s house and greeted her. Her name is Lorraine, and she had no clue what was about to go down.
“We’ve got something for you,” Shelly told Lorraine. “So I told Matt [the husband] how you liked gnomes. Look. Look what we found.”
Matt then showed Lorraine the humongous gnome. She, impressed by the heartwarming absurdity of the decor, absolutely loved the gift.
“Oh my goodness gracious!” the 97-year-old said. “Isn’t that absolutely beautiful?“
The woman’s amazement was even greater when she found out that the enormous gnome was also an Advent wreath of sorts that the New York couple got at JCPenney. Lorraine grabbed the gnome and deeply admired it, to the couple’s delight.
A Lovely Gift For A Lovely Lady
Lorraine was so shocked that she even said that Shelly and Matt didn’t have to do that. They, however, told her they love to spoil her. To Shelly, the giant gnome is a perfect gift to complement her other smaller gnomes, which she briefly showed in the video.
As expected, people online absolutely loved Lorraine’s reaction and the gnome gift. One user said, “Y’all are beyond precious. God bless you for being amazing. And Lorraine, protect her at all costs. She’s incredible.” Another commented, “I wish she was my neighbor.” A third one added, “Oh my gosh, I want to send her a gnome!“
While the 97-year-old will have to think of a place to put the oversized gnome, she most certainly will have a wonderful Christmas with her neighbors.
