A woman in California is accusing staff at NorthBay Medical Center in Vacaville of administering medication to her husband without consent. She claims that the incident left her spouse confused and violent and nearly cost him his life.
The Couple Visited the Hospital for a Minor Issue
Identifying herself as her husband’s power of attorney, the woman said in a TikTok video that she and her husband went to the hospital because he was dehydrated and felt a little dizzy. Hospital staff ran several tests, including scans and lab work, and placed him on an IV to hydrate him. When they determined that nothing was seriously wrong, the doctors reportedly told the couple that he was fine and could be discharged.
However, while her husband was being discharged, the woman claimed that a female nurse approached them and said she wanted to give him “some pills” to help him sleep. “The nurse who gave it to him was really laughing and really giggly and thought it was funny that he was sick,” the wife said in the video, adding that she immediately felt uncomfortable and questioned whether the medication was appropriate at all. “I didn’t want her giving him the pills at all because he does not take any kind of medication, never had any mental health issues, never had any previous issues in his life,” she added.
Despite her objections, the woman claimed the nurse administered the pills anyway and also gave her a fake name.
Her Husband’s Behavior Allegedly Changed After Leaving the Hospital
According to the wife, after the couple returned to their hotel shortly after leaving the hospital, her husband began acting in ways she had never seen before in the 13 years she had known him. She claimed that he became disoriented and aggressive and did not recognize her as his wife. In one of her most alarming allegations, she said her husband attempted to jump off the hotel balcony. “Ten police [officers] had to come and restrain my husband,” she said. “He didn’t know where he was. He didn’t know who he was.”
Officers ultimately transported him back to the hospital, where she later found him restrained and surrounded by staff. Because she was in great distress following her husband’s episode, she said she began demanding answers about the medication given during discharge, but one doctor allegedly told her to “take it down a notch.”
“I said, I’m not toning anything down,” she recalled. “Y’all gave my husband medicine without consent.” The woman said doctors tried to convince her that no medication had been given at all and suggested she was imagining things. She also stated that when she reviewed the discharge paperwork, she found no record of the pills being administered.
Second Alleged Attempt to Administer the Same Medication
The woman said she tried to remain with her husband almost constantly after his return to the hospital. However, at one point when she briefly stepped away to retrieve his mother, she returned to find a nurse in his room at around 3 a.m. allegedly attempting to give him the same medication again, despite clear instructions in his chart stating that the drug should not be administered.
“She didn’t tell me her name,” the woman said. “Somebody sent her in there.” She claimed she stopped the nurse just in time and demanded that staff review the medical notes indicating her husband could not receive the medication.
Hospital Allegedly Contacted Her After Videos Went Viral
The woman shared in one of her TikTok videos that she was allegedly contacted by a hospital director who asked her to remove a video in which a doctor told her to “take it down a notch.” She said she complied but felt the situation was becoming “very strange.”
“These people tried to kill my husband,” she said. “I have all the evidence, y’all.” She also alleged that a hospital security guard physically assaulted her after she attempted to take a photo of his badge, claiming he slapped her hand and knocked her phone away while telling her it was illegal to photograph his identification.
Here’s How People Online Are Reacting to the California Incident
The woman’s claims have drawn intense reactions on TikTok, with many commenters expressing fear, anger, and distrust toward hospitals. “Some healthcare workers are really angels of death, it’s just really sad,” one person wrote. “They wanted his organs,” another alleged. A third warned, “Never leave patients by themselves, especially the elderly.”
Others urged her to “hire a lawyer,” “file a police report on the security officer,” and “call as many auditors as possible.”
