Punishment Gone Wrong Fast: North Carolina Father Embarrasses Son With Haircut, ‘You’re Officially His First Bully’

That was unnecessary

Unfortunately, some parents believe that being overly harsh is the only way to discipline their children. In reality, open communication is often far more effective than punishment meant to embarrass or hurt. A North Carolina father appeared to reject that idea entirely, sparking widespread outrage after posting a video many viewers found humiliating.

According to the father, his son had been skipping school and struggling academically. Instead of addressing the issue through conversation or support, he chose a different approach. His punishment was giving his son an intentionally awful haircut.

In the video, the back half of the boy’s head was completely shaved, while the front was left with uneven, patchy hair. As his father filmed, the visibly uncomfortable child repeatedly ran his hand over his head, clearly aware of how he looked. The clip quickly drew criticism from viewers who felt the punishment crossed a line from discipline into public humiliation.

The video posted by the North Carolina father wasn’t the worst thing he did. He also said that he would send his son to school looking like that. At the end of the video, you could hear other people in the room laughing at the kid. When people expressed their outrage, the dad posted another video, now claiming that he didn’t send his son to school with this half haircut. According to him, he was just scaring him, and when the morning came, he made him completely bald. His classmates would still bully him. Rather than realize that what he did wasn’t right, the father kept defending his decision.

People Reacting to North Carolina Father’s Punishment Method

People were absolutely furious about what the North Carolina father did to his son, plus the fact that he posted that video. This is why one person wrote, “you’re officially his first bully/hater smh.” Others claimed that the haircut would make matters worse, as another person said, “look old school giving him an embarrassing haircut is gonna do more harm than good.” Someone else wrote, “there’s other ways to discipline your kids.” One TikTok user also told the father, “Gang you posted it online , you basically humiliating him lol.”

Unfortunately, some people online agreed with the North Carolina father’s actions and even praised the punishment as good parenting.

That sparked pushback from others who strongly disagreed. One person replied, “There are better ways. There are more effective ways to reach your child than embarrassing and humiliating them. Now you’re messing with their self-esteem, with how they show up every day, and you’re killing his energy. That’s the wrong way.”

Many viewers pointed out that there are countless forms of discipline that don’t involve humiliation or long-term emotional harm.
