This close to the holiday season, I never understand why there are people who go out of their way to deliberately make someone else’s life harder. Some people are just so willing to die on a particular hill that they don’t listen to themselves when they speak. In California, a woman had to learn this the hard way when another woman accused her of faking needing to be in a wheelchair. Not only is that completely rude and uncalled for, but it also goes to show how little people actually know about the many reasons why a person would need a wheelchair.

Guys help me make sense of this cause I’m still wildly confused

The above video was posted to TikTok by @slayleebays, a dancer named Kaylee who advocates for wheelchair users. Unfortunately, in this video, she met with a woman who couldn’t care less about the needs of other people. The clip that the entire video opens with is just a snippet of the entire argument that Kaylee had to endure.

She explains that the woman, an older blonde lady wearing a Santa hat, had been collecting signatures for an unknown reason. After stopping to answer a few of her questions, Kaylee decided to leave and head over to a nearby restaurant that she planned to eat at after her fiancé left for work.

However, in that moment, the elderly woman decided it was best to call out Kaylee for not actually needing a wheelchair. Of course, she needed to make sure Kaylee wasn’t a lawyer before doing so, because that somehow makes it okay.

Despite being ambulatory, meaning that she does have some walking capabilities, that wasn’t something that the blonde woman knew. So, her behavior wasn’t just uncalled for, but also targeted for some reason.

After the argument had ended, Kaylee managed to contact security at a nearby building while the elderly woman got in her car and drove away. Fortunately, Kaylee was able to snag her license plate before she got too far.

Many people with a variety of different illnesses and health conditions jumped into the replies to share their own stories as wheelchair users. One person even said, “I have pots! sometimes I use my cane sometimes my walker sometimes my wheelchair sometimes my powerchair. but I look like a normal person. everyday I wont know what I will use until I wake up.”

Other people were simply disgusted at the way the elderly woman handled the entire situation, with one person saying, “People have way too much time and audacity.” Honestly, you never truly know why a person would need a wheelchair, and it shouldn’t be any of your business anyway.
