Amazon has now announced that they are now able to deliveries inside customer’s car. They have expanded the Amazon Key In Home delivery was announced last year and it has had mixed reviews.

The Amazon Key In-Home delivery allowed the delivery person to unlock your house and drop off your parcel inside, so that customers did not have to worry about being in for their parcel. Yesterday, Amazon announced a new Amazon Key that allows them to deliver inside Prime customer’s car.  The service is available in 37 cities across the country with eligible vehicles and those that have an active subscription to connected car service.

The car delivery service requires the Amazon Key app and a car with connective technology. This technology only applies to 2015 cars and newer. Before placing an order on Amazon, Prime members must choose the in-car delivery option at checkout. Finally, on the day of delivery, customers must make sure their car is in range of the delivery location in the Amazon Key app.

Deliverers use an encrypted authentication process to make sure they have the right car and parcel and once the authentication process is completed, they can access the car by unlocking it with the app. Customers will then receive an alert before and after the package is delivered.

On their website, they have laid out a step-by-step process for customers to show them how it works and that it is free for Prime customers. Customers can even check if they eligible with the vehicle check system underneath the explanation of how it works. There is a 4-hour delivery time window for the package to deliver which is typically between 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for Two-Day Shipping and 5 p.m.-9 p.m. for Same-Day Delivery.
