For some unknown reason, people are sharing a lot of horror stories about their experiences with food delivery services. A recent one was shared by a Florida woman who wasn’t lucky with the Uber Eats driver assigned to her. She ordered pizza and didn’t think that anything would go wrong. When the order took too long, she checked the app. That was when she saw that the driver was just in her area, but then he started driving away. She realized something was wrong when she saw on the app that he had gotten onto the highway. When she called him, he claimed that he delivered the food. This led her to assume he had delivered it to the wrong apartment. So while she was on the phone with him, she went around her complex looking for the pizza, only to find nothing.
Suddenly, the Uber Eats driver started saying something weird to the Florida woman. He no longer claimed that he delivered the order. What he did instead was to keep asking her, “How much is the food worth to you?” So he was basically holding their order hostage to get more money. He then started repeating what she would pay for the food, all while driving further away. After five minutes of this, she hung up because she realized he wouldn’t be giving her the food. She then had to drive to the pizza spot with her partner to pick up their order.
While this was happening, they received another strange call, this time from a woman with Uber. She kept saying incomprehensible things, and when she learned where they ordered from, she hung up. The entire situation was so messed up that the couple decided never to use Uber Eats again. It didn’t help that their customer service was quite useless when they contacted them. They offered the woman a 20% credit for what happened, and that was it. Who knows how many people the driver did the same thing to?
People Reacting to the Florida Woman’s Delivery Nightmare
It turns out that many people had horror stories similar to the Florida woman’s. This is why one person believed that no one should use these delivery apps anymore. “I think collectively we need to stop using these services bc this is ridiculous,” they wrote. Another person replied, “Iam severely disablied, can not drive. I stopped using doordash and things forever ago. There’s no reason anyway need to use uber eats or doordash or whatever. We don’t have to put up with that.” Someone also disclosed an insane thing about DoorDash. Apparently, when you complain about the service you are receiving, they list your account as a complainer. “After a dasher showed me that DoorDash had me listed as a complainer I cancelled my service. How is it my fault my orders are constantly wrong?” they asked.
More people shared with the Florida woman their own experiences, including one who wrote, “i got food poisoning and was HOSPITALIZED OVERNIGHT, and uber refused to refund me because I didnt make them aware directly after receiving my order…” Others believed that the customer could have done more than just make a video, as one person said, “Awfully bold of him to act like this when you actively have his location too btw lmaooo.” Another person then added, “I’m happy somebody said it cause I was like I’m crazy. I will follow you and tell you exactly how much that pizza is worth.” Well, that’s one way to deal with a driver holding your food hostage.
