Working in the medical field is something that is reserved for some of the most caring and patient people. One New York woman who works as an aide was recently praised for her patience when she was approached by an older, aggressive woman who was preventing her from entering a building to work with her patient, and it was all because of a cigarette.
The TikTok video, which was posted by user @leaxmanson, starts off right in the middle of the confrontation. An older woman wearing a red jacket is standing in a doorway, refusing to let the aide pass by her. She looks irritated and angry as she holds the door.
“Please don’t touch me,” the aide says. “I’m recording you,” she adds as the woman reaches out to shove her. “Please stop touching me, ma’am,” she says again. The woman stares her down and makes a grunting noise. “Are you okay?” the aide asks. “No,” yells the older woman. “No. get away,” she continued.

Finally, a man comes up behind the elderly woman to help put an end to the situation. The aide then explains that she’s trying to get to her patient, but the woman won’t let her in the building because she doesn’t have a cigarette for her. “You need a cigarette that bad?” the man asks the older woman, who finally gives up and lets go of the door.
However, the woman doesn’t end it there. She can be heard calling the aide “bald” before walking away. Some TikTok users believed that the elder woman wasn’t in her right mind, possibly due to her age or an illness. However, others praised the New York woman for how she handled the situation.
For the most part, social media viewers had a lot of respect for the woman staying calm during the heated confrontation. “Respect. That could’ve went completely different,” one person said in the comment section. “I appreciate your patience Ma’am,” said another. “You’re better than me,” a third comment read. “Nicotine withdrawal is crazy,” a fourth person declared. “I know you can hold your composure real good me I COULD NOT!!!!!” a final commenter added.
It’s unclear from the video whether or not the older New York woman was suffering from an issue that led to her behavior, or if she simply wanted a cigarette that badly. Either way, the situation was thankfully diffused before something more physical happened between the women.
