I’ll admit that I’m the kind of person who doesn’t schedule my dental appointments nearly as often as I probably should. However, when I schedule an appointment, I definitely know what it is that I’m doing there and why. One Washington dentist claims that this doesn’t seem to be the case with men, who, in most cases, have absolutely no idea what they’re doing there.
There are a multitude of reasons why someone would want to schedule a dentist’s appointment, so it might be in your best interest to actually know specifically what you’re going to be undergoing after walking through the door. It looks like that just isn’t the case with the male population.
The above video was posted to TikTok by @drbradysmith, a comedian and dentist who runs the HALO Dental Network in Washington. Most of his videos are of himself wearing his dental scrubs while telling an exaggerated story of something that happened to him at work. This one is a little bit different, as it sounds more like a PSA than anything.
Dr. Brady talks to the camera and talks about how, more often than not, his male patients who come in for an appointment typically have no idea what they’re doing there. He claims that the men who have no idea what the appointment is for aren’t generally embarrassed about their lack of common sense.
He tells the story in a comedic manner, but you can tell that it’s coming from a real place. The people who commented on the video weren’t very surprised by what he had to say, with one person even saying, “Half the population is not surprised by this information.” Another commenter inadvertently agreed with the former, saying, “lol “I don’t know why the men aren’t embarrassed.” Because they are unburdened by thought.”

The comments also included one from an alleged veterinarian who claims that he sees the very same thing in his industry, saying, “Veterinarian here- we HATE when the husbands bring in the pet bc they UNIVERSALLY have no idea what’s wrong with the pet or what meds they’re on. But they’re more than happy to complain about the cost.”
Despite the obvious humor in what Dr. Brady was saying, plenty of commenters agreed that there is some truth to it. The next time someone schedules a dentist’s appointment for you, you might want to double-check exactly what it is you’re going in for.
