People have been talking about many of the big games that are launching in 2026, and one of them is The Blood of Dawnwalker. If you didn’t know, this RPG made by former Witcher devs is quickly becoming the most anticipated vampire experience of this year. And while many of us are as hungry as the protagonist in this tale, we got some details today during the New Game Plus showcase to satiate that hunger and build up some hype as we wait for the game’s official release.
The Blood of Dawnwalker’s Creative Director Talks Active Antagonist, Reactive World, and Romance
In case you missed the showcase, The Blood of Dawnwalker shared new details regarding some mechanics and lore details in the New Game Plus show. Some of the juiciest information includes details on the hunger mechanics, noting that the protagonist has to feed as a vampire at night and as a human during the day, and that the character is something like a half-vampire, half-human.
For the lore aficionados, the game’s creative director, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, also shared some details, especially about Brencis. He mentions how there will be different details to show Brencis’ impact in the game, and how the title will explore Brencis’ involvement in the world.
However, one important thing Tomaszkiewicz mentions is how they always wanted to make Brencis an active antagonist, contrary to other games that leave the bad guy in the shadows or for a final boss fight, Brencis will seemingly react to your actions. One example Tomaszkiewicz gave is how he might send more patrols your way to make your exploration more difficult, which sounds quite intriguing.
The above mechanics are part of something called edicts, which is a way for developers to change how the open world reacts around you. There might be an edict that locks down the city, making accessing it more challenging for Coen.
Speaking of challenges, it seems you might be able to cut some storylines short, as Coen could lose control of himself, leading him to kill essential NPCs. Lastly, and this is huge news for people, there will be romance in The Blood of Dawnwalker, which is a plus for many gamers out there.
By the looks of it, The Blood of Dawnwalker is looking extremely reactive and intriguing already, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Hopefully, we’ll get a release date soon because, just as the protagonist, we are hungry for more.
