There are so many different rideshare services that people can choose from, with one of the most recent additions being Waymo. The company uses driverless cars to pick up clients and take them to their destination, like Uber, but it is way less safe. In Georgia, one woman found herself in a strange position when she got into an accident with a Waymo car.
According to her video, the officers who arrived to check things out had absolutely no idea what to do next. Realistically, how do you assess an accident when one of the cars involved doesn’t even have a driver? Well, it looks like no one really knows.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @chosendesserts, which is owned by a woman who runs a dessert catering business called Chosen Desserts in Atlanta, Georgia. Most of her videos revolve around this, with numerous posts of tasty-looking pastries and cakes populating the page.
In this particular video, she shares something completely different: the back of a Waymo-operated Jaguar SUV she was in an accident with. The vehicles Waymo uses are driverless and therefore have no one inside who can speak with authorities should they get into an accident.
It almost seems as though she was the very first person in the state to ever go through this because she claims that the officers who arrived were just as confused about what to do as she was. What’s even worse is that the driverless car appears to be a rather expensive Jaguar SUV.
Georgia Driver Gets into Accident With Driverless Waymo, and Cops are Stumped
People in the comments were quick to find humor in the situation, making various jokes, including “you finna get waymo money” and “somebody said you should’ve paid waymo attention.” In an update video, claiming she must be the first person in Georgia to come across this problem, more people chimed in, with another person saying, “Your insurance is about to be WAYMO expensive.”
The original poster herself even used the views she gained from the footage of the accident to market her brand. Fortunately, it appears that she wasn’t injured at all as a result of the accident with the driverless car. I hope that this situation has sped up what the states that allow these cars are expected to do when they get into accidents.
Even if the car isn’t supposed to get into an accident, that doesn’t mean that it won’t. There have already been various stories of Waymo vehicles running over or injuring others while going about their everyday.
