I’ve seen various stories of people who are in intense custody battles with the other parent of their child. A lot of times, these battles can get incredibly heated and result in a lot of stress for just about everyone involved. Fortunately for one California mother, her ex’s asking for custody backfired on him in a way that I’m sure he didn’t think.
These battles always require there to be copious amounts of paperwork involved to ensure that every T is crossed and every I dotted. For some people, it looks like they need a whole lot more in the realm of basic information that they should really have known about before walking into the courtroom.
The above video was posted to the TikTok account @candidacache, which belongs to a mother in California. Her posts are typically about her daily life as a parent to a fifteen-year-old, as well as other activities. This time, she chose to be a bit more vulnerable and share a story about her ex trying to serve her papers for custody of their child.
She begins by explaining that for the majority of the fifteen years since her child was born, the father was not necessarily absent, but not there nearly as often as he should be. Despite this, the father hired an attorney to serve her papers and try to allegedly tell a judge about various lies concerning the last time he had seen his daughter.
Throughout the court procedure, the mother reportedly had various forms of evidence that directly contradicted everything the father had been saying. In fact, according to the explanation, she had kept in contact with the child’s father and even had photos of the different things the two of them did together.
What’s worse is that he couldn’t even name important aspects of his own daughter’s life, like her full legal name.
California Mother Keeps Custody of Daughter After Father Serves Papers
At the end of the court hearing, the father walked out without having any kind of physical custody, with the requirement of paying child support. Allegedly, the daughter also explained that she didn’t want a relationship with her father anyway.
Tons of people gathered in the comments section to condemn the man’s behavior, with one person even saying, “Wait!!! He wanted custody and don’t know her legal name!!! 😳” Other people were just as shocked, with my personal favorite comment saying, “Your daughter is 15, the lawyer wasting his time cause they will take her feelings into account. She is not a small child lol.” Hopefully, both her and her daughter are able to continue living a happy and healthy life.
