Public transportation is a very useful tool for everyone, and as individuals in society, we are expected to be respectful of public spaces. However, there are many people who only seek to take advantage of any situation. Such is the case with Karen in Seattle, who was confronted by two security guards for not paying her bus fare. Needless to say, this woman did not take kindly to anyone questioning her entitlement, and things got worse after she started playing the victim in front of everyone.
The redditor EclecticEel shared a video on r/ActualPublicFreakouts of a woman causing a scene on a bus. All this because bus security personnel confronted this entitled Karen in Seattle for not paying her bus ticket. However, the woman initially reacted defensively when the guards calmly asked for proof of payment. But the woman repeatedly refused and began to raise her voice, accusing the guards of harassment.
The Karen was yelling that she would not show that she had paid and demanded that they leave her alone, because they had no authority to ask her anything. However, the guards are exactly the ones in charge of maintaining order and ensuring that all users pay correctly. Therefore, realizing that the woman would not back down, no matter how much of a victim she acted like, the staff decided that the best course of action was to remove her from the bus to avoid further disruption to the service.
“She knows what she’s doing playing victim,” said nameless608.
“Call the cops and charge her,” commented _phil1001__.
“Probably worked for her in the past. Create enough of a scene, and eventually, people say fuck it and leave you alone. Unfortunately for her, booting people like her off the bus is literally their job,” added singlemale4cats.
At the end of the video, the woman creates even more chaos by shouting louder as the guards take her by the arms to remove her from her seat and then escort her off the bus. At no point do the guards use more force than necessary, and no other passengers felt the need to intervene, as Karen was clearly in the wrong. Several Reddit users agreed that the staff were simply doing their jobs and that verification procedures are necessary to ensure passenger safety and fairness. They also noted that, regardless of frustration, there is no justification for treating others this way.
