Common sense isn’t so common for some folks, just like having a driver’s license doesn’t make someone a good driver. That said, one Uber driver delivering groceries to a woman’s house in Illinois proved this fact when he decided park directly on his customer’s front lawn. Now, it’s very likely he did this out of spite, as the woman had asked him not to park in the middle of her neighbor’s driveway. Whether it’s a lack of human decency or actual logical thinking, what the driver did is infuriatingly inconsiderate.
Now, this wouldn’t have been a problem if the Uber driver simply dropped off the groceries quickly and left. However, “he sat there for like 5 mins before even starting to unload,” the woman recalled on r/uber, and by “there,” she meant the middle of the next-door driveway. After being asked to move, he drove onto the front lawn and started unloading the bags. “I can’t believe people like this exist,” reacted a commenter. “This is just rude. This person doesn’t consider anyone but themselves.”
Bizarrely enough, there were several Redditors, likely trolls, who sided with the spiteful Uber driver, saying that the woman was in the wrong for either not giving him clear instructions or going out to help him. “This is no excuse for this behavior and OP having the common courtesy where the driver didn’t is NOT the problem here,” one person said, defending the poster. On the other hand, many more believed that the driver was acting out of sheer illogical ignorance.
“Uber drivers are getting dumber literally every day,” criticized one commenter. “Uber and door dash attract some of the lowest of the low in our society,” remarks another. Several more chimed in, saying how delivery drivers are often either individuals on the lower echelon of society, like drug abusers, or people who don’t speak English. Regardless of whichever category this Uber driver fits into, he still shouldn’t have so thoughtlessly parked on someone’s lawn.
