A woman in Jacksonville, Florida, is facing backlash from netizens on TikTok after she filmed herself returning to a local Papa John’s location to request a refund for a pizza order she claimed was “dry” and “burnt.” In the video, the customer strongly insisted that she and her companions were dissatisfied with the quality of the meal, despite the fact that a significant portion of the food had already been eaten.
After carefully inspecting the pizza boxes she brought back into the store, a Papa John’s employee, who later identified himself as the manager, explained that granting a refund would not be possible under the circumstances. He pointed out that two slices had already been eaten from one pizza, roughly a quarter of it, while more than half of another pizza was gone entirely.
However, the woman continued to argue that the pizzas were not enjoyable and claimed that her companions “didn’t like it because it’s very dry.”
Their Argument Continues
During the brief back-and-forth, the employee remained firm while explaining that store policy does not allow refunds on food that has already been largely consumed. To illustrate his point, he offered a comparison. “That would be like me going to McDonald’s, eating three-fourths of a meal, and bringing them a bite of a burger and a couple of fries and expecting a refund,” he told her.
When the customer complained that the food they had eaten was “burnt,” the employee responded that the decision to continue eating it was ultimately the customer’s responsibility. “So there’s nothing I can do for you,” he added.
The woman later asked to speak with a supervisor or contact corporate. In response, the employee explained that he was the manager on duty and that the policy he was enforcing came directly from corporate guidelines. He also mentioned that he had already explained the same policy to her earlier over the phone, suggesting that she had contacted the store prior to returning in person.
Netizens React to the Florida Woman’s Claim
In the comments section under the woman’s TikTok post, many viewers sided with the Papa John’s employee and questioned why she expected a refund for a partially eaten meal.
One commenter asked, “Y’all didn’t like it but then y’all still ate it???” Another wrote, “You can’t return something half eaten!!! Seriously?! 🙄🙄” A third remarked, “How can I be a victim today.” A fourth added, “The Papa John’s employee was way more patient than I would have been.”
Several netizens were also skeptical of her claim that the pizza was burnt. One person commented, “That pizza isn’t even burnt… I’m confused as [expletive] here 😒.” Another said, “If it was burnt, you take it back and ask for a new one. You don’t eat 75% of it and then expect a refund.”
