Sometimes, after watching things play out, the only thing one can do is sit back and wonder how it all got so bad. Two racist students at Indiana University School of Law walked out of the class after the Black professor demanded that they maintain a respectful environment.
A Black student, who was present in the class, posted a clip of the racist students walking out of the class on TikTok. She explained the encounter in detail with a voice-over, saying that the two guys had walked out after the professor warned about having a “disrespectful tone.” The student recounted that one of the racist students had been “yelling at the professor, insinuating that the professor was stupid, saying that the professor didn’t know what he was talking about, insinuating that the professor’s questions were not his own, even scolding him for not explaining.” She added that other students in the class had tried to get the racist student to stop going at the professor, telling him that he was being rude and that he did not talk to other professors like that.
When the guy walked out of the room, she shared that the White students in class “cheered, clapped, and so many other things.” She lamented in the voiceover, “This is a law school, by the way, and they are all ganging up on one Black professor.”
In the comments, she confessed that her moment of bravery was coming at a cost. “You know what’s sad is that I’m worried the school admins will retaliate against me and that any security will be used to silence students who stand against the pervasive racism in the school. Pray for me, really,” she wrote.
Just as she predicted, some backlash followed her first video. In a follow-up video, she revealed that their classes were shuffled, so she was no longer in his class, and that the professor was removed from teaching that semester. Although she was not certain why he was removed, she fought back tears as she lamented, “This is wrong… You mean to tell me that my first Black professor got removed from teaching because other students were so racist that they couldn’t handle being in a Black man’s class?” Still very emotional, she continued, “Words cannot express how messed up that is. To where a Black professor in 2026 can’t even teach.”
Netizens had plenty to say about the entire incident. “Mind you… He has his accolades; they need to get theirs,” one wrote. Sharing their sentiment, a second one said, “He has his degree, as they sit in HIS class trying to earn theirs… Failed immediately. Now retake the course and play with someone else.” A TikToker chimed in, “They’re always hurting themselves, because aren’t those idiots paying for this course?”
One netizen lamented, “What is happening in America? We are unravelling FAST! At some point, preserving peace, safety, and security has to be a priority! We need to invest in building our own community.” Someone else wrote, “Thank you for outing IU for its continual racism… so many incidents ignored.”
Others focused on the racist students. “They have to do work, so they know he’s not just going to pass them along,” a user wrote. “This should disqualify them from getting a license,” another stated. “What do they get out of just being hateful?” someone asked, and a last one stated, “They envy Black excellence!!!!”
