One would think you have seen racism at the lowest level it can get to, but some things would just leave you utterly bewildered. A young boy in Tennessee painfully recounted the horrible experience he had at soccer. Another kid called him “illegal” and threatened that Trump was going to get him.

"The goalkeeper told me I’m an illegal immigrant even though I was born in America"

The heartbreaking video of the boy explaining his encounter was posted on X. “Tell me again what the other player told you during games,” the voice behind the camera urged the boy, who was already visibly shaken after crying for a while.

“This guy told me I’m an illegal immigrant, even though I was born in America. He said, ‘Trump is gonna get me and send me back to where I used to live,‘” the boy recounted of his teammate, who was the goalkeeper. Obviously geniuninly confused by the logic, “I was born in America. I don’t live anywhere else,” he said, extending his arms in defence. “Then he called me an [expletive], and I don’t get why kids like to say that stuff,” he cried, “It makes me so sad how they just control their power like that. They think they have power, and it’s not just nice.”

Many netizens were devastated that the young boy had to experience that. “This is excruciating to watch,” one wrote. “Devastating. The opposite of everything America should be. My heart goes out to this beautiful boy so much,” a second user wrote. “The damage done to our children right now is catastrophic. My heart is breaking for this little dude, and frankly, for the indoctrinated little prick who said those horrible things to him, too,” another added.

“A country that makes a child cry because of where they come from isn’t ‘defending its borders’. It‘s destroying hope. What’s happening in the US isn’t ‘Immigration policy’. It‘s a pedagogy of fear. The worst part isn’t Trump – It’s what he enables,” a netizen pointed out. “This isn’t just a joke; it’s a reflection of the fear tactics used in politics. We need to ensure our kids don’t grow up with this kind of anxiety,” someone added, and another chimed in, “Make America Hate Again, That’s Trump’s real aim,” playing on the MAGA acronym.

“Kids shouldn’t be targets for adult politics. Period,” a user frankly stated. Many users did not mince words. “Trump is destroying America to serve his ego,” one wrote. “Racism isn’t born, folks, it’s taught. I have a 2-year-old son. Know what he hates? Naps. End of list. – Denis Leary,” another wrote.

“Oh, honey, you are just as much an American as that ‘goalkeeper’ who’s being influenced by our current president to ‘hate anyone who isn’t White,’” someone said, encouraging the young boy. “The goalkeeper needs to write a letter of apology, and then the parents need to have him do some community service at a center where international individuals gather,” a last user stated.
