A Louisiana Woman Exposes Demanding Homeowners With a Duck Cleaning Story: ‘Imagine Taking the Time To Do This, but Not Clean Your Own House’

Let’s play treasure hunt

People who make a living by cleaning others’ houses never have it easy. They usually have to lead with things that don’t even have to do with the house’s tidiness, and sometimes, these situations really get out of hand in ways that many of us could never imagine. For instance, one woman in Louisiana shared a story of a cleaning staff member who was supposed to clean a home, but the owners hid 100 ducks around the place and asked the person to find them to “prove they were doing their job correctly.”

I would in fact, never clean for them again! 🫶🏻 pic.twitter.com/cFQPoJVcWr

One user in X shared the story, which apparently happened in Louisiana, but it is unclear whether the OP is the victim here or not of this duck cleaning story.

In any case, the story says the cleaning staff arrived to tidy up the house, yet they discovered a note next to a jar that read: “To our cleaner, we hid 100 mini ducks around the apartment. We do this to ensure a job well done! Please leave all ducks in this jar.”

As you can see, on top of the cleaning, the staff is supposed to find 100 ducks, which you can actually see in some of the pictures the user shared on their account. The ones who took the picture saw ducks in the pantry, shower, and even behind the sofa. This means that the houseowners actually took their time to hide every single mini duck around the house, yet didn’t have the time or effort to do the cleaning their own home.

Oddly enough, this story blew up in a matter of hours, with people from different social media platforms criticizing the houseowners, as well as feeling bad for the cleaning staff who had to deal with this situation.

“Imagine taking the time to do this, but not clean your own house…who raised these people, I swear,” said Heather via X.

“That’s just insulting lol. Basically telling the cleaner that you don’t trust them,” commented Tanner via X.

A lot of people seem to be on the same boat, claiming that this is insulting to the cleaning staff, as starting a scavenger hunt of sorts just to prove they are working correctly is wild. Also, it makes us all question the homeowners’ priorities. As many kindly put it, hiding 100 ducks in a house takes a lot of time, and they could have used that time to actually clean their home instead of annoying the poor cleaning staff.

Ultimately, many have recommended that the victim of the duck-searching ordeal quit and look for another client. No one should force cleaners into a scavenger hunt when their job is to clean a house or business only.
