After the deaths of Alex Jeffrey Pretti and Renee Nicole Good, the public is now boiling with anger. Many people have expressed even greater displeasure and hatred toward ICE, demanding that the organization receive proper punishment or be disbanded altogether. Because of this, more anti-ICE protests have popped up across America, including one in West Seattle, Washington.
Lines of protesters could be seen walking through the streets, holding signs as they shouted their demands for ICE to be defunded and for the government actually to do something and address what happened in Minnesota. While the majority of people on the street were anti-ICE, there were still individuals present who openly supported Trump and ICE agents, creating tension during the Washington protest.
One Washington man was seen acting like a heckler during the anti-ICE protest in West Seattle. In the video, the man could be heard shouting racist remarks and other insults at the protesters. Though most people paid little attention to him and ignored his behavior, some demonstrators did confront him.
One protester who stopped in front of the angry man advised him to seek therapy, pointing out that he appeared to have serious anger issues. Another protester, speaking through a megaphone, told the group to ignore the trolls, advice that the man clearly did not appreciate. At one point, the video also appeared to show the man attempting to threaten the walking protesters physically. However, another male protester stepped in and stopped him from further disrupting the anti-ICE protest in Washington.
The video ended with the man giving the demonstrators the middle finger and verbally insulting a couple of female protesters. After the footage went viral, the internet was not impressed by the man’s actions at the Washington protest. Many viewers criticized him, calling his behavior embarrassing and unnecessary. “WHAT A LOSER,” one user said. Another wrote, “There’s something that’s extra insulting in the realization of just how miserable these people are. Just blindly lashing out in defense of their own misery. It almost makes me pity them. Almost.”
Another user pointed out that the Washington man was not the only heckler who showed up during an anti-ICE protest. “There was some white guy going around screaming ‘sieg heil’ at the protest last night. Everyone basically just drowned him out by chanting louder. White supremacists are everywhere, unfortunately, and are emboldened by the current political scene,” one user said.
One commenter remarked that they had also encountered a similarly disruptive man who appeared to attend protests solely to annoy demonstrators. They said, “I had a guy come out to an ICE protest and he needled me and my fiancé, and he asked, ‘Do you want to debate?’ looking genuinely offended when we said in unison, ‘NO.’ We were out there because we believed ICE is the modern Gestapo. He was out there on a Friday night because he wanted to debate and annoy people who have more empathy. It’s the most Reddit-brained thing I’ve ever seen.”
