Off-Duty ICE Agents Denied Service at Maine Restaurant: ‘This Is Why They Wear Masks’

Totally deserved

ICE agents are not the most welcome group in America these days. While there are still plenty of MAGA supporters who are happy with them being around, many others are openly hostile toward anyone suspected of being ICE. For these two agents in Maine, that hostility became very real when they were kicked out of a restaurant after being identified as ICE.

It is unclear how the restaurant staff discovered that the men were ICE agents. Some speculated that they may have openly talked about their work, while others believed someone recognized them. Regardless of how it happened, once it became known that they were ICE, the two agents were asked to leave the Maine restaurant. They were later recorded silently walking out of the restaurant and into the cold, snowy air.

As the ICE agents stepped outside into the Maine winter, a cameraman followed them closely while recording. The cameraman repeatedly insulted them for being ICE and for coming to Maine at all. He narrated the video as it happened, claiming that the agents were from Arkansas. He shouted that they did not deserve a moment of peace and told them to leave the city immediately. The ICE agents did not respond verbally. They ignored the man and continued walking, appearing focused on reaching their car.

Many online commenters praised the man for confronting the ICE agents and telling them to leave Maine. Several said they wished they could do the same if they ever encountered these agents themselves. One commenter wrote,“Man, I can’t wait for my chance. I feel like it’s coming soon. I’m going to catch one of you guys harassing people, and I’m going to get in your face. Why don’t you come to Aroostook County and try that.”

Others remarked that the video should serve as a wake-up call for ICE agents, especially those working in Maine, that they are not viewed as heroes. Critics pointed out that the fact the agents wore masks to hide their identities already suggested they knew they were not welcome. “Good, this is why they wear masks. They need to understand they’re not heroes; they’re stormtroopers for the empire,” one user said.

Some users even suggested turning this type of confrontation into a national movement, encouraging people to deny service to ICE agents wherever they appear. One commenter wrote, “Ayuh, that’s how it’s going around here. Best be on your way now. Folks act like America is one big melting pot, but it really isn’t. The U.S. is large enough that you stand out if you travel more than a couple hundred miles. We aren’t homogeneous; we have strong local identities.”
