When things get political, people often get so heated that some make very questionable choices. For one man in Minnesota, he thought it was a great idea to start threatening an independent journalist. He seemed to take issue with journalists sharing stories about what was happening in Minnesota, especially journalists who weren’t siding with MAGA and conservatives. The man leaned against the wall, acting all cool while his partner recorded him. He said that the journalist had to watch his mouth, and then said that they knew the journalist’s address and knew where he lived. He then referred to the Minnesota journalist as commies and claimed that they had broken their “signal group.” The video ended with the cameraman saying that misinformation comes with consequences.
The Minnesota journalist quickly shared the video online when he discovered that he had been doxxed and targeted by these extremist agitators. He explained that he had already gotten his apartment management and local police involved. However, he still wanted the public to know what this man was doing. The journalist wrote, “This guy is already in legal trouble, and this stunt could prevent them from inflicting further pain on the city of Minneapolis. Share it far and wide.”
The internet wasn’t that threatened by what the man was saying. While most people agreed that the man was wrong to threaten a Minnesota journalist, many found his attempt at acting tough to be ridiculous and cringeworthy. “This was a painful watch. I didn’t realize this guy was such a massive dork. Someone cross post this to one of the cringe subreddits,” one user said.
Others remarked that they actually knew the man in the video and that he had already become somewhat infamous after hurling threats and insults at a group of protesters earlier in January. Some users pointed out how ironic it was that the man shouted about journalists spreading misinformation when critics argued that MAGA figures and even President Trump were the ones they believed lied most often, including in disputes involving Renee Good and Alex Pretti. “Misinformation comes with consequences,” even goons talk like liberals now too,” one user wrote.
Others called the Minnesota man a coward for only daring to approach the journalist’s apartment when he wasn’t home at all. Some remarked on how ironic it was that this MAGA supporter was threatening a journalist while claiming to stand for freedom and accountability. “So in Trump’s America threatening people who don’t agree with the orange menace is ok (even encouraged), but people who legally protest against the regime are subject to arrest and execution. Got it!” one commenter said.
