As influencer culture continues to explode, so too does a more obnoxious subset driven less by creativity and more by clout, freebies, and the expectation of special treatment. With that in mind, a New Jersey influencer known for her relentless complaints is facing backlash after a video showing her acting “obnoxious” toward restaurant staff began circulating online. While the influencer at the center of the controversy appeared to expect support for her behavior, viewers online were instead shocked by what many described as her demanding and rude conduct.
The video begins with the content creator confronting a young server and accusing him of being rude to her. “Excuse me, are you serving the tables outside? ‘Cause you just like walked off. You don’t know if I’m quality assurance or anybody. You don’t know who I am.” Confused and shocked by the New Jersey woman’s confrontational behavior, the worker politely asks the lady to talk to his manager. “I don’t know who this young kid is, but he’s very rude.” says the influencer to another young employee, who turns out to not be the manager but a fellow colleague.
Suddenly, however, the restaurant manager does interject and begin dealing with the unsatisfied customer. “Excuse me, ma’am. Hi, how are you? My name’s Phil. I am the manager here.” he exclaims. In response, the lady declares, “You’re the manager? I thought she was, but this guy right here came over to me. Instead of asking me what I wanted to drink, he was asking me, did I talk to the host to sit there. I mean, like, of course I did. Why would I sit there without talking to the host. But he never once asked if I wanted something to drink. I’ve been out there for 10 minutes now.”
As the back-and-forth unfolds, it appears that the influencer sat down at a dirty table outside, and the woman admits, “I just sat down because I needed to sit down.” The manager agrees to get her a drink from the bar, though the influencer wants to take her drink outside. However, the manager tells her that the outside tables are only reserved for “full service only,” likely meaning that it’s only for customers who are buying a meal. The confrontation continues to heat up, however, as the manager states, “Ma’am, ma’am,” and to this, the content creator rudely retorts, “I don’t like the word ma’am, please stop using it.”
The footage then cuts to moments later, when the woman is sat down outside, which goes against what the manager has asked her. “You’re being extremely rude now,” explains the manager calmly. After further bickering, the woman declares, “Do you know, I’m a very, very, very viral social media influencer? And do you know I was recording what your guy didn’t do earlier? And do you know that I’m recording you right now? Do you know that I’m not satisfied in your restaurant?“
She then goes on to call the manager “disgusting,” a remark many viewers felt was unwarranted, as he appears to handle the situation calmly and professionally. She then tells the manager “you suck,” and claims that she’s going to report the incident to his general manager. With a smile on his face, the manager says, “Have a great day.” as the influencer continues complaining, and insulting him.
With the video continuing to gather momentum online, social media users flocked to the comments to criticise the rude New Jersey “influencer.” On Reddit, one person wrote, “Zero clue who the person is, and I’m thankful for that. Social media is a [expletive] cesspool.” while another added, “She never shows her face, I recognize that ignorant voice from other so called bad service videos.” A third penned, “This is all she does, she’s a cancer to society.” Meanwhile, over on TikTok, one commenter expressed, “She is wrong in so many ways,” while a further remark read, “Oof and she’s in Monmouth county“.
While it’s unclear whether she actually contacted the manager’s GM, many viewers concluded that the influencer was in the wrong, criticizing her for being unnecessarily abrasive and rude. Hopefully, this serves as a reminder that influencers should act more responsibly and think twice before using insults and confrontations as content.
