The road toward Crimson Desert feels closer and closer every day. To increase our hype, Pearl Abyss has released a lengthy video showcasing the beautiful open world of Crimson Desert, as well as many new gameplay details that we didn’t know of before. From the areas of the map to playable characters, and even details about the protagonist’s ambitions, fans who’ve been waiting for this ambitious open-world game are having a feast with everything that the studio has in store for us.

Crimson Desert Gives More Details of Its Open World in New Video

In the first #CrimsonDesert Features Overview, we introduce Kliff, the conflict sweeping over Pywel, and the open world where your journey begins. Learn what you can discover as you explore, quest, and fight across the continent.

If you didn’t know, Pearl Abyss launched a 15-minute video showcasing more details of the game’s open world, as well as some surprise information regarding two more playable characters. If you want to view the full trailer, it is attached to the post above.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the information we saw in the trailer. First, we got to learn more about Kliff’s role in the story, the Greymane clan, and what he’ll be doing most of the time in this adventure. As you know, something happens to Kliff’s clan, and it is his job to reunite it while traveling across this vast open world.

Speaking of which, we also got to see new parts of the map and finally learn the names of some of the open-world areas in Crimson Desert. The game seems to be divided into five regions: Hernand, Pailune, Demeniss, Delesyia, and, yes, one place called Crimson Desert. All of which feature different styles, people, enemies, and places to explore, which is a welcome sight, as some open worlds tend to feel similar at times, regardless of how many zones they have.

The big surprise in terms of gameplay is that Crimson Desert will feature two playable characters besides Kliff, both of which you can use to explore the open world and even tackle some quests outside of the main story. Just like Kliff, each of these two characters has a specific playstyle, so it will be nice to bring them into some fights just to see how combat flows with these two allies.

Beyond that, Peal Abyss also showcases some of the activities we can expect to play in the open world of Crimson Desert, with the notable ones being faction quests. According to the video, you’ll be able to liberate a region, and once you do so, the place will change, bringing in NPCs, resources for Kliff, and even giving you rewards like weapons.

Also, for those who want to swim in side quests, it seems Crimson Desert will have plenty of those. We were able to spot a few quests that lean on the quieter side of things, some that involve puzzles, and many combat-oriented ones, including liberating a whole fort.

Overall, it seems Crimson Desert is changing how open-world games work by actually giving us a map full of things to do, from combat encounters to many environmental puzzles. And, judging by the trailer, it seems most of them are quite unique, which, if so, will mark a new standard for open-world entries. Yet, we’ll have to wait and see just how vast this world is in terms of content, but by the looks of it, it seems we’re in for a pleasant surprise.
