After weeks of teasing on social media, Bethesda released the first official trailer for the post-apocalyptic shooter Rage 2. But there’s more! The end of the trailer promised that the first worldwide gameplay reveal would drop sometime tomorrow.

Earlier this month, Rage 2, amongst other unannounced titles, were accidentally leaked through a Walmart ad for pre-orders. Since then, the game’s social media page was wiped and only consisted of a post poking fun at the mentioned Walmart ad. However, Bethesda’s Twitter profile has been filled with images showcasing similar color schemes seen in the eccentric video above.

Along with the trailer, box art for Rage 2 was released on social media earlier today. The developer on the original Rage, id software (Doom, Quake), is teaming up with Avalanche Studies, best known for their work on the Just Cause series, to work on the sequel. Luckily, we don’t have long to wait in order to see the game in action!

Needless to say, a sequel to the post-apocalyptic Rage was the last thing fans were expecting to be announced. However, Bethesda seems to be taking full advantage of all of their properties with new additions to the Doom, Wolfenstein, and Prey franchises in the past few years. Although the original Rage released to mixed reviews, the community seems to be excited about the sequel for the time being.

Rage is set in a world similar to the Fallout series. Players take on the adventure of a soldier who has been hibernating underground since an asteroid hit Earth. Upon his awakening, he discovers that he is a wanted man. As of this writing, there have been no story details released or an official release window, but surely Bethesda will cover some of these questions in their E3 conference in a few weeks on Sunday, June 11, 2018, at 9:30 PM EST.
