As one bakery in Pennsylvania discovered, you can make yourself a target of ICE just for having stellar cookies. But when you support a pack of leopards that eat faces, don’t be surprised when they eat your face. Although the cookies may be delicious, a father getting detained by ICE is not. Being a business also means looking out for your community. Are photo ops with MAGA really worth tearing a family apart?
TikToker Logicnliberty shared the unfortunate news in a recent video, wherein the Oakmont Bakery in Pittsburgh, PA, had a run-in with ICE. An employee, Jose Flores, had been detained by ICE. Luckily, several days later, he was released, according to Triblive.
It’s good to see Jose Flores getting home safely. However, as TikToker Logicnliberty points out, there is a connection here. Oakmont Bakery had been paid a visit by both Eric Trump and JD Vance, in 2020 and 2024, respectively, in addition to the store’s political cookies.
She argues further, “You don’t get to host politicians who promised mass deportations,” and then arrests the “guy that frosts your cake.”
The bakery has been reported to have helped Jose Flores, the feeling on social media is that it’s too late.
One commenter argued the Oakmont Bakery didn’t care about their employee to begin with, only speaking up, when “they started getting boycotted” due to the threat of their “bottom line.” As it turns out, hosting MAGA spreads their message, leading to ICE going door to door for immigrants and Americans.
Another suggested it was the owners or “one of the racist [expletive] employees,” but it doesn’t have to go that far. ICE agents have already made it clear they’re a danger to themselves as often as they are to others. The gear they’re wearing rarely fits, and they can hardly keep up with running protesters. Not to mention several killings.
One commenter stated they were finished with Oakmont Bakery and would travel an “extra 20ish minutes” for “Jean Marc in Millvale.”
It’s very clear that people are much more cutthroat with what businesses they support, based on politics. However, being a business also means standing up for your community; if the community thrives, so do you. Helping Jose get back to his family was the least they could do!
