While he was enjoying Bad Bunny’s halftime show during the Super Bowl at a local bar, a man in Dallas, Texas, was told to “go back to Mexico” in what has been described as a racist meltdown.
The clip was shared on TikTok by user amramarceo (Ram). While at the Texas bar, he was listening to Bad Bunny’s performance. Ram was having a blast, but a man sitting at the bar was furious from the get-go. While inaudible, it seemed like he was complaining to the bartender about the show.
However, things changed, as the man loudly stated that the show wasn’t “American.” Ram interjected, saying that Bad Bunny was Puerto Rican, therefore, a US citizen. The man insisted, saying that “there is no America in that,” referring to the halftime show. Then, the unnamed man spewed his beliefs, telling Ram, “Go back to your own country.”
Ram and another woman laughed and continued enjoying the show. They even started to clap, which appeared to further trigger the man with the racist remarks. He took things further, using a slur to say that Latinos were “pushing their language on our country.”
‘Go Back To Mexico’
Ram continued to engage with the Texas man, saying that he knew how to speak three languages and that, most likely, the offended fellow only knew English. Once again, the man told Ram, “Go back to your own country.”
“If you wanna speak Spanish, go back to Mexico,” the man continued. “Go. It’s okay, you can leave.” The back-and-forth, however, was cut off by a security guard, who appeared to be asking the angry man to stop. The video ended, and it is unclear if the Texas man was allowed to stay after his meltdown.
Ram’s clip went extremely viral, garnering more than 250,000 likes and close to 3,000 comments. Some of them even pointed out that the bar appeared to be Hispanic, which would be the ultimate irony.
“I love how much it bothers them,” one user said. Another commenter wrote, “Why do they assume everyone who speaks Spanish is Mexican?” A third said, “That’s why it is important to learn how to speak English correctly. That way, we can defend ourselves from racists.”
Hopefully, Ram will be able to replay and fully enjoy Bad Bunny’s show, given that he was rudely interrupted by one man’s bigotry.
