‘Totally Unacceptable’: Extremely Rude Family Changes Dirty Diaper on New Jersey Woman’s Seat on United Airlines Flight, and the Flight Attendant Supported It

Are they trying to spread the rotavirus?

The time, money, and effort passengers have to put into flying from one place to another often make the whole journey tiring, miserable, yet memorable. Even if the flight is just a few hours long, even the smallest things can become a big hassle. However, for one woman en route from California back to her home in New Jersey, the mess she got herself into was anything but small. It was on a United Airlines flight, and a Karen of a mother was changing her toddler’s dirty diaper right on the woman’s seat.

It was aggravating enough that the entitled family decided “to use seats OTHER than their own to do this,” the woman sighed in her post on r/unitedairlines. But the fact that the Karen mom and her crew were “extremely rude and almost combative” made the situation feel even worse.

That wasn’t the last of it, either. When the woman was changing her baby’s diaper, a flight attendant was present, watching the whole thing. When questioned why she allowed a diaper change to be done on seats instead of the plane’s designated bathrooms, she responded little more than “to shrug her shoulders and say it really didnt even smell.”

After settling in and getting through over half the trip, the purser of the United Airlines flight approached the woman and her husband to ask about what happened regarding the diaper change on her seat. After he explains everything, the initial flight attendant comes storming to the woman and begins yelling at her, upset that they brought up the diaper situation at all. “She’s super rude and aggressive about it,” the woman recalls.

It goes without saying that the Reddit post’s comments were filled with people upset that this would ever happen. Neither the diaper-changing family nor the flight attendant should have allowed this to happen or acted in the way they did. “I think it’s totally unacceptable to do this on a seat,” says one user. “It’s unsanitary, completely inconsiderate to everyone around you and just plain nasty,” agreed another. “Ugh, and this is how rotavirus gets spread around. It’s is a heath and safety issue to be honest and it’s just plain disgusting,” added a third.

In the end, many people strongly suggest that the woman take her complaint directly to United Airlines management; the way the flight attendant mistreated her was completely unacceptable, on top of supporting a diaper change on someone’s seat.
