It seems like every political side, left or right, has extremists. A grandma in Maryland shared her concerns about students attending the late Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA and admitted to having reported it to Child Protective Services (CPS).
The left-wing Karen rationalized her actions in a video posted on X, formerly Twitter. Reading from a document, the grandma explained that Turning Point USA hosted an event in December 2025 that was open only to high school students and categorically stated that parents and legal guardians were not allowed. “This even raises serious concerns related to students’ safety, parental rights, and governance oversight,” she noted. The left-wing woman stated that the event was supervised by undisclosed volunteers. However, she believed that school-affiliated activities should have clear standards for supervision.
The woman, who has now been branded a Maryland “Karen,” added that she considered it a conflict of interest for Board of Education members to serve as guest speakers at the event. “Students are widely recognized as a vulnerable population; they are in critical developmental stages and are especially susceptible to influences,” she explained, stating that any events held for them should have parental involvement. “Based on the circumstances surrounding this event, a report was made to Child Protective Services,” the left-winger concluded.
As expected, right-wing supporters flooded the comments with criticisms. “She is so smug and condescending,” one wrote and added, “She has no children at this school, just an old [expletive] looking for a chance to virtue signal.”
A user asked, “So we also assume she reported all the teachers taking children to dangerous anti-ICE protests?” Others chimed in, “Yet nothing was said when teachers were allowed to escort students to protests without parental consent or supervision. Total hypocrisy.” A second one wrote, “Someone needs to post a video of a ‘student’ ICE walkout riot side-by-side with this woman’s speech.” Another added, “Oh, but they can leave the school campus to protest ICE, but not to go to TPUSA. What a hypocrite, everything she said should apply to ICE protesters.”
Some netizens even highlighted bigger issues. “So they can teach LGBTQ+ & sexual crap to students without parental or guardian consent, but to host a Christian conservative event calls for child abuse? GTFOH,” one wrote. Another said, “If only they wanted the same transparency and parent involvement while they were affirming your children’s gender delusions.”
Someone wrote, “I’m getting sick and tired of these ChatGPT speeches.” Still, some users related to what she had said. “Considering the number of conservatives that weren’t reported to CPS, that obviously isn’t the issue,” one said. Another rationalized, “I mean… given 90% of Republicans are protecting pedos. I may not agree with it, but I see her logic, even if it’s wrong.” Hopefully, the Maryland officials can make a ruling that satisfies both parties fairly.
