Racist stereotypes about Black people persist in harmful ways, and one of the most common is the assumption that they can’t afford expensive items, or that if they have them, they must have stolen them. This ugly prejudice was on full display in a recent incident in California. A young Black boy was riding a pricey motorized skateboard when a White woman, apparently convinced he had stolen it from her son, confronted him.
The claim was entirely baseless, but she immediately began harassing him. A video of the encounter shows her gripping the skateboard, trying to pull it from his hands, and instructing bystanders to call the police. Throughout the confrontation, the boy repeatedly insisted that he hadn’t stolen anything, his voice trembling as the situation escalated.
This heartbreaking scene in California continued as the racist woman persisted in trying to snatch the skateboard. “Leave me alone,” the boy cried, clutching the board tightly. It was devastating to watch an adult harass a child like this. She began mentioning something about a skate park, and rather than leaving him alone, she demanded to see his bill of sale. Did she really expect him to carry that around just because he was Black?
The boy explained that he had the remote and charger, enough to prove ownership, but the woman dismissed it. “This lady is harassing me. Please let go of my stuff,” he pleaded to the bystanders—yet no one stepped in.
The video ends with the boy still struggling to keep his skateboard as the woman continued to try to take it. The clip, originally shared on TikTok, was accompanied by an update from the person who filmed it: the recording only began when the woman tried to hit the boy, causing him to fall. The boy’s mother, who had asked for the video to be posted, arrived later, only to find that police were already on the scene. She wanted to press charges, but the officers refused to assist, effectively allowing the harassment to go unchecked. The woman faced no consequences for her actions, leaving a clear example of unchecked racism in public spaces.
Currently, the boy’s mom is trying to find a lawyer to help her legally. The woman who posted the original video later shared another update provided by the mom. It turned out that all the yanking that happened damaged her son’s skateboard. The cops also gave it back to him after they proved that it was his. When it comes to letting the woman go, the mom wrote in a message, “The cop justified it but saying she assumed it was her sons so that’s why she was trying to take it. I asked him so if I assume your gun is mine can I take it off your person and that would be okay based off assumption? He said ok we’re done here and walked away from me.” Just shameful. The cops should have done something.
People Reacting to the Racist California White Woman Harassing the Black Boy
A lot of people were disturbed by the video of the racist California woman harassing the Black boy. “All of these racists have become so embolden because of Trump and his administration, what they fail to grasp is MAGA will soon be gone, but we will remember. And they will pay the price ……jail time, loss of jobs, ostracized,” one person wrote. Another person said, “so they only made one electric skateboard and she happened to be the only one to buy it. Like he said it makes no sense at all. This is so traumatizing for this child. Like how can he go out and do his daily thing without fearing harassment from the white community.” Someone else said, “There is a niche group of people who truly believe black people are not supposed to have what they consider ‘expensive’ things…. In 2026.”
More people expressed their outrage toward what happened as one person said, “I couldn’t fan watch it all bc all those people just standing there and not helping a [expletive] kid. If that was my son, as soon as she bonded out, I’d be whooping her [expletive]. No way I’m letting this slide. Whew‼ This really PMO.” Another person couldn’t believe what the cops did as they said, “The cops let the lady go. She even tried to hit him with her car at first. There were witnesses. The cop told the boys mom that the lady assumed it was hers. I have no words.” This made someone else reply, “Nope. Post the officer’s name face and badge too. Don’t let him get away with it either.” The cops should have definitely done more.
