There’s no shortage of travel hacks and clever tips from influencers all over the world. Still, one influencer mom from Ohio has shaken tourists to their core after revealing how she uses hotel coffee makers to wash her underwear. The worst part is that some tourists reportedly found out after their stay at the same hotels that the influencer stayed in, and this has led to some claims of a $1M lawsuit.
Tara Woodcox from Ohio is the influencer in question, and she shared a viral travel hack in late 2025 where she uses a coffee pot/coffee maker to clean her underwear. Apparently, Woodcox “learned it years ago from a friend that was a flight attendant, and it’s brilliant.” Woodcox adds, “all you have to do is put your underwear where you would put the coffee grounds and press brew.”
Just days ago, however, it appears Woodcox’s hotel hack resurged in popularity after several claims across multiple social media sites alleged the influencer is now facing a $1 million lawsuit. Certain unverified social media news channels reported that “several guests realized they had stayed at the same hotel as Tara and had already used the coffee makers. Some filed complaints and demanded compensation.”
The particular hotel supposedly filed a lawsuit against Woodcox, according to online claims, though the validity of such a lawsuit remains unverified. Woodcox herself hasn’t responded to the allegations and the renewed virality of her underwear coffee maker hack. Despite the unverified claims, hordes of critics still flocked to Woodcox’s TikTok channel, calling her “nasty” and even asked about the lawsuit.
People Online Want Consequences for Woodcox
It’s not really clear whether Woodcox does practice her underwear coffee maker hack on the regular during her travels or if it was just a joke for social media, but people online nevertheless threw some scathing criticisms along her way. One commenter was even serious in cursing her, “As a parent with a child with severe medical needs, who has used the coffee pot for hot water to clean equipment when there’s no microwave to boil..I hope you have wet socks for the rest of your life.”
So far, Woodcox’s latest activity dates back to February 12 and has yet to respond to her new wave of haters. Other social media users were even trying to track down Woodcox’s hotels in the past and supposedly showed her coffee maker video to the hotel managers, “I hope the hotel saw the video,” suggests a commenter.
Meanwhile, other critics were worried at how exactly Woodcox came up with the idea of washing her underwear in the coffee maker when sinks are available, whether she was serious or not, “What’s wrong with washing them in the SINK WITH HOT WATER?! Da-phque,” questions one TikTok user, while another really wanted Woodcox sued for her video, “The first time I am in favor of the big company winning a lawsuit.”
