In everyday interactions, a little understanding can make all the difference, while entitlement and unnecessary confrontation often escalate situations quickly. With that in mind, a New Jersey woman — who many online have since dubbed a “Karen” — was caught on camera confronting a delivery driver after he allegedly knocked a branch off her tree with his vehicle. The heated exchange is circulating online right now.
The video begins with an elderly woman, dressed in what appears to be light blue pyjamas, struggling over a fallen tree branch with a delivery driver in the middle of the street. “Give it to me. Move it!” she shouts, appearing to try to kick the delivery driver, though she does not make contact. “Alright, if you do anything to my truck, ma’am–” retorts the delivery man, but the woman interjects, angrily hits the truck with the tree branch and snaps, “I can do whatever the [expletive] I want with your truck!” Under his breath, you can hear the driver say, “You’re vandalising my truck.” She then begins accusing the driver of being “[expletive] illegals!”
The footage then cuts to when the Karen began the heated exchange, as you see her exit her building, yelling, “You see this, you son of a [expletive]? You [expletive] see it? What’s sorry gonna do? What the [expletive] is sorry gonna do?” In the background, you can hear the delivery driver apologising for knocking the tree branch from the tree with his truck. As the woman continues her angry tirade, another neighbor can be heard telling her to, “Shut the [expletive] up!” This doesn’t sit well with the Karen who fires back at her neighbor, “Make me shut the [expletive] up. You’re a miserable [expletive]!“
“I apologise. It was an accident.” explains one of the delivery workers, though the Karen disagrees and tells them that she thinks that they did it on purpose, before accusing them of being “lazy“. “I’m going to sue the company. I’m going to sue. You rotten men.” she shouts, as the footage comes to a close.
With the video clip circulating online, social media users took to the comments to air their thoughts. On Reddit, the top-voted comment amusingly read, “Karen should complain to the branch manager” while another chimed in with, “Trees are great but if you keep it trimmed it will be LESS damaged by regular traffic.” A third commenter sarcastically penned, “Her neighbors love her, I can hear it from here. Psycho“. A fourth declared, “She is calling her neighbor miserable??“
Fortunately, no one was reportedly injured during the confrontation, and police were not called to the scene.
