After leaving their fans in a state of anticipated excitement, Bethesda Softworks has finally announced the newest iteration in the Fallout series: Fallout 76. While the nature of the game itself is still a mystery, players are hoping for a spin-off equivalent to Fallout: New Vegas.

The teaser trailer, shown above, depicts scenes from a well-kept Vault 76, which the game is presumably named after, as a version of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” plays in the background. It’s obvious that the vault dwellers have had a good time as balloons, confetti, and a banner that says “Reclamation Day” decorate the vault’s interior.

While a Pipboy does make an appearance, this version of Fallout has a much more domestic feel than its predecessors. There are no crazy weapons or tank-like power suits shown in Vault 76; instead, there are green trees, dinner tables set up with a morning breakfast, and a children’s room. As the trailer plays, the only line of dialogue comes from a television broadcast: “When the fighting has stopped and the fallout has settled, you must rebuild.”

Fallout 76

Bethesda teased the teaser trailer for the past 24 hours on their Twitch channel, where over 140,000 people tuned in hoping to see the release. While the trailer doesn’t indicate what sort of game Fallout 76 will be, Kotaku reported, “we hear it’s an online game of some sort.” Perhaps, the game will involve rebuilding society with a group of friends? Hopefully, Bethesda will clear up some questions at E3!

Bethesda will be holding their own E3 conference, called BE3, on Sunday, June 10 at 9:30 PM EST, and, hopefully, Todd Howard will answer some of our unanswered questions! Are you looking forward to Fallout 76? Let us know in the comments below, and make sure to tune into The Nerd Stash for all of your E3 2018 coverage!
