A Virginia therapist details an experience in her dance class where she witnessed a fellow white woman being racist to a substitute instructor. The encounter began when a sub failed to turn a fan on fast enough for the woman. The woman then went “on a rampage” about it. However, some commenters want to know why the therapist did nothing to intervene.
The Virginia therapist posted on her channel, strongtherapy, about this experience. She begins with the statement, “white women are often the most racist people around.” She continues by sharing her experience where she witnessed a racist encounter. The woman takes a class regularly at the gym every single week.” Typically, the class has a “usual instructor, but this week [they] had a sub, a black woman, teaching [their] dance class.” She relays what happens, “This sub did not turn the fan on in time for this one particular woman.” In response, the white woman “snapped at the instructor.” The therapist describes the behavior as “just went off on her.”
The Virginia therapist continues, saying the woman ranted about how the instructor “wasn’t doing it fast enough, and how she owed it to [them].” She says that the woman “just went on a rampage.” The therapist points out how their “usual instructor” has never messed up. The woman has previously “never said a word.” She explains how “other people stepped in and put her in her place.” To her, she saw it as “this white woman just wanted to take it out on a black woman.” She concludes, “I wish this woman had asked herself, why is she so comfortable going off on a black woman, but not anyone else?”
Virginia Therapist Slammed For Doing Nothing
However, many want to know why the Virginia therapist didn’t step in to help the sub. One comment says, “You could have confronted her yourself. That’s what advocacy looks like.” Another agrees, “I was waiting to see if she confronted her, and nope.” A third says, “I hate when people come running to TikTok #issaperformance.” One comment points out, “But you did nothing.” One simply asks, “And did YOU say anything to her?” Another answers, “Of course not, so basically she’s part of the problem.”
Others are more annoyed at her sharing the story without doing anything, as one says, “There are 2 types of evil, people who do evil and people who see it & do nothing to stop it.” Another adds, “You don’t have to tell us, we live it.” A third reads, “We know it’s never-ending.” A third says, “We encounter this kind of ridiculousness on the daily – in one form or another.” Another says, “Welcome to our world.” One comment adds, “May as well have kept this story to yourself, as if we don’t live the experience every day! Ally much.”
