To suffer because of the insufferable is indeed a horrid fate, but sometimes avoiding a “Karen encounter” is impossible, as was the case for an unfortunate Maryland man trying to pick up his partner from work. Someone had parked their car directly in front of his car in his apartment complex, blocking him in for four hours. Management claimed they could do nothing, so the man called the police, who had the car towed since it was parked illegally and gave the driver a ticket. When the car’s owner eventually emerged, the Karen was none too happy.
“[The] girl starts screaming, ranting and raving about how ‘petty’ it was and i guess shes right about that lol. But I wasn’t about to play “find the owner” at 8 pm,” the man recalls in his post on r/mildlyinfuriating. Then, she began yelling violent threats, such as “count your days” and saying she would slash the tires of his car. The wild Maryland Karen’s argument that his car never moves from its spot, even though he took his partner to work the same day. “I’m just autistic and park in the same 3 spots when theyre available,” he explains, verifying he has been medically diagnosed.
If the woman were just upset, it probably wouldn’t have been a big deal. However, since she threatened him, he reported her to the leasing office, since she lives in the same complex. “I have a seven+ minute recording of her ranting and raving, screaming for everyone to hear. like complete crash out,” the man remarks. But people think he’s being too soft by just telling management; commenters in his Reddit post demand he report her behavior to the authorities.
“Call and make a second police report about the girl threatening to vandalize your car and made physical threats of violence,” recommends one user. Another pointed out that the complex owner should even consider evicting the Maryland Karen: “They might want to void her lease as she’s a danger.”
Plenty more people criticized her reaction to the situation, calling it immature and uncivilized. “People like that never had their worldview expanded past themselves growing up. Her reaction is that of a 5-year-old,” remarks one person. “Common sense says to not park anywhere that blocks another car,” added a second commenter. “She earned that tow.”
